Job summary

Paracoat Products in India is seeking an experienced professional to lead supplier development for automotive plastics. You will identify new sources, evaluate capabilities, and drive material development and validation.

You will coordinate audits, CAPA and PPAP processes to ensure supplier quality and supply continuity. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Production and Purchase to advance material development, supplier audits and process improvements for ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive plastic components, polymer products, injection moulding, extrusion, or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Experience in supplier development, raw material development, supplier quality, and validation is advantageous.
• Knowledge of 8D, CAPA, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Job description

Candidates with experience in automotive plastic components, polymer products, injection moulding, extrusion, plastic raw materials, or Tier-1 automotive suppliers will be preferred.

Experience in handling supplier development + raw material development + supplier quality + validation will be an added advantage.

Role & responsibilities

1. Vendor Development

• Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for raw materials, plastic components, and related materials.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments and technical evaluations.
• Develop suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and technical capability.
• Conduct supplier audits and identify gaps for improvement.
• Coordinate with suppliers for corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain an approved supplier database and supplier performance records.

2. Raw Material Development

• Handle development and sourcing of plastic/polymer raw materials used in automotive components.
• Understand material specifications, grades, properties, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers for new material development and alternate material sources.
• Evaluate raw material quality, consistency, availability, and commercial feasibility.
• Work closely with Purchase, R&D, Quality, and Production teams for material development.

3. Supplier Quality Management

• Monitor and improve supplier quality performance.
• Handle supplier quality issues, rejections, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
• Conduct supplier audits and process assessments.
• Implement 8D, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, and corrective action processes.
• Monitor PPM, rejection, rework, and supplier performance indicators.
• Ensure suppliers follow approved specifications and quality standards.

4. Supplier Validation & Qualification

• Lead the supplier validation and approval process for new suppliers and materials.
• Coordinate sample development, testing, trials, and validation activities.
• Review supplier process capability and quality systems.
• Coordinate material/component validation as per customer and company requirements.
• Ensure required documentation is completed before supplier approval.
• Support PPAP/APQP activities wherever applicable.
• Coordinate with laboratories and internal teams for material and product testing.

5. Plastic / Polymer Technical Support

• Should have good understanding of plastic materials, polymers, compounds, additives, fillers, and material grades.
• Understanding of plastic processing technologies such as Injection Moulding, Extrusion, Compression Moulding, Thermoforming, etc. will be preferred.
• Evaluate material properties such as strength, hardness, density, temperature resistance, and other application-specific requirements.
• Work with suppliers to resolve material-related quality and process issues.

6. Supplier Audit & Improvement

• Conduct supplier process and system audits.
• Prepare audit reports and track corrective actions.
• Identify supplier process risks and improvement opportunities.
• Support suppliers in improving process capability and reducing rejection.
• Develop alternate suppliers to ensure supply continuity.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Purchase, Quality, R&D, Production, Stores, and Engineering teams.
• Support new product development activities from supplier development perspective.
• Participate in technical discussions with suppliers.
• Ensure timely completion of development and validation activities.

Preferred candidate profile

Candidates with experience in automotive plastic components, polymer products, injection moulding, extrusion, plastic raw materials, or Tier-1 automotive suppliers will be preferred.

Experience in handling supplier development + raw material development + supplier quality + validation will be an added advantage.

Note:

The candidate should preferably have a strong technical background in Plastic/Polymer materials along with hands‑on experience in Vendor Development, Supplier Quality, Raw Material Development, and Validation.
