Canis Talent Solutions seeks a senior Finance Lead with CA/ACA who can own planning, budgeting and reporting for a high-transaction-volume business in India. The role drives financial discipline, manages channels, and partners with executives on strategic decisions.

Responsibilities include close management, MIS delivery, compliance, and investor support. Startup exposure is a plus; strong governance and team leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• CA/ACA with 4-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in e-commerce, D2C/B2C, marketplaces or high-transaction-volume businesses.
• Startup experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual business planning, budgeting and forecasting with variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate books reflecting true financial position with timely closings.
• Deliver MIS, dashboards, and actionable financial insights for management.
• Reconcile channels and settlements across D2C, marketplaces, and logistics.
• Oversee cash-flow planning, inventory valuation, and banking relations.
• Monitor profitability, margins and cost-optimisation opportunities across channels.
• Strengthen internal controls, approvals and SOPs to protect assets.
• Oversee inventory accounting, procurement finance and vendor payments.
• Ensure GST, TDS, income tax and statutory compliances with consultants.
• Coordinate statutory, internal and management audits and address observations.
• Partner with Directors and CFO for commercial decisions and expansion.
• Assist with investor reporting, fundraising and due diligence.
• Lead and develop the Finance & Accounts team with ownership and accountability.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• 1. Financial Planning & Performance: Lead annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across functions and sales channels.
• 2. Books of Accounts & Financial Statements: Ensure accurate books reflecting the true and fair financial position, with timely monthly and annual closing and preparation of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement.
• 3. Financial Analysis & Reporting: Deliver timely MIS, dashboards, financial analysis, forecasts and actionable insights for management.
• 4. Channel Reconciliation & Revenue Assurance: Reconcile D2C, marketplaces, quick-commerce and other sales channels, including settlements, commissions, logistics, returns, deductions, TCS and other adjustments.
• 5. Working Capital & Treasury: Own cash-flow planning and optimise inventory, receivables, payables, liquidity, banking relationships and debt facilities.
• 6. Profitability & Cost Management: Monitor channel, category and SKU-level profitability, contribution margins and unit economics; identify margin-improvement and cost-optimisation opportunities.
• 7. Safeguarding Assets & Financial Controls: Strengthen internal controls, approval mechanisms and SOPs to protect Company assets, minimise leakages and improve accountability.
• 8. Inventory & Procurement Finance: Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, landed-cost calculations and financial controls around procurement, vendor payments and imports.
• 9. Statutory Compliance & Governance: Ensure timely GST, TDS, income-tax and other applicable statutory and corporate compliance, coordinating with consultants and advisors as required.
• 10. Audits & Risk Management: Coordinate statutory, internal and management audits, maintain audit readiness and ensure timely closure of observations.
• 11. Business Partnering & Strategic Finance: Support Directors, CFO, founders and functional heads with financial insights for commercial decisions, expansion and operational performance.
• 12. Fundraising & Investor Support: Assist with investor reporting, fundraising, due diligence and preparation of financial information as required.
• 13. Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Finance & Accounts team, ensuring ownership, accuracy, timely execution and continuous process improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting with CA/ACA Mandatory.
• 4-7 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a middle-management role, with exposure to e-commerce, D2C/B2C, marketplaces or other high-transaction-volume businesses.
• Startup experience will be preferred
