Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, GL and monthly close.
• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements and management reports.
• Ensure accurate accounting of revenue, expenses, inventory, supplier advances, receivables and payables.
• Coordinate GST compliance, filings, reconciliations and audits.
• Reconcile marketplace settlements (Amazon/Flipkart/Myntra) and banking.
• Strengthen internal controls and financial documentation.

Job description

The position offers an opportunity to build and lead the finance function as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

A. Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Independently manage day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, general ledger and monthly closing.
• Prepare monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheet schedules, cash-flow statements and management reports.
• Ensure accurate accounting of revenue, expenses, inventory, supplier advances, receivables and payables.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
• Prepare actual-versus-budget analysis and highlight significant variances.

B. GST, Taxation & Compliance

• Manage GST compliance across applicable registrations, including reconciliations, return preparation, input tax credit tracking and filing coordination.
• Reconcile GST portal data with books of accounts, purchase records, sales records and marketplace transactions.
• Monitor TCS, TDS, e-invoicing and other applicable tax requirements.
• Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure timely completion of statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate with external CAs, tax advisers, auditors and company secretaries.
• Identify discrepancies, potential tax exposures and opportunities to improve compliance processes.

C. E-commerce & Marketplace Reconciliation

• Reconcile settlements from Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, quick-commerce platforms and the company's website, as applicable.
• Reconcile sales, returns, refunds, commissions, advertising charges, deductions and bank settlements.
• Investigate unexplained differences between marketplace statements, accounting records and bank receipts.
• Establish a repeatable reconciliation process and ensure that unresolved items are tracked to closure.

D. Working Capital & Financial Controls

• Monitor cash flow, vendor payments, customer receivables, marketplace settlements and supplier advances.
• Work with Operations to reconcile inventory movements, warehouse stock and inventory valuation.
• Support cash-flow forecasting, working-capital planning and fund utilisation reporting.
• Strengthen internal controls, approval processes and financial documentation.

E. Audit & Process Improvement

• Coordinate statutory audits, tax audits and other applicable audits.
• Maintain audit schedules, supporting documents and reconciliations.
• Improve accounting processes, reporting formats and use of accounting software and Excel.
• Develop a reliable monthly finance reporting pack for the founder.

Candidate Profile

• 610 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
• CA Inter, CMA Inter, M.Com or equivalent qualifications preferred; a qualified CA may be considered where the role and compensation expectations align.
• Prior experience in an e-commerce, D2C, retail, consumer-products or multi-channel business is strongly preferred.
• Strong practical understanding of GST, marketplace settlements, TCS/TDS and input tax credit reconciliation.
• Experience independently managing books of accounts and coordinating statutory compliance.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software such as Tally or equivalent ERP systems.
• High attention to detail, integrity, ownership and problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable working in a lean organisation without extensive supervision.
