Job summary

PeopleGene in Mumbai seeks a seasoned finance leader to steer corporate financial strategy, budgeting, and reporting. You will oversee accounting operations, ensure statutory compliance, and provide actionable insights to the leadership team.

The role requires 5–10 years in finance, with CA or MBA (Finance), strong Ind AS knowledge, and proficiency in ERP systems like Tally, SAP, and Zoho. You will manage cash flow and build a high-performing finance team.

Qualifications

• CA or MBA (Finance) degree holders with relevant professional certification.
• 5–10 years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in retail, manufacturing, D2C sectors.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards (Ind AS) and compliance requirements.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Oversee accounting operations: billing, AP/AR, GL, revenue recognition.
• Ensure timely financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and data accuracy.
• Monitor product cost structures, pricing, and gross margins across channels.
• Collaborate with procurement and production to optimize costs.
• Ensure GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulators; lead audits.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital; optimize receivables/payables.
• Implement and maintain ERP finance modules (Tally, SAP, Zoho).
• Ensure data flow across inventory, sales, and finance systems.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team; drive accountability and continuous improvement.

Job description

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to the leadership team
• Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts payable/receivable, GL, and revenue recognition
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of records
• Monitor product cost structures, pricing, and gross margins across channels (retail, D2C, distribution)
• Work closely with procurement and production to analyze and optimize costs
• Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations (GST, TDS, Income Tax, etc.)
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Manage annual audits and tax filings
• Monitor daily cash flow and working capital requirements
• Optimize receivables and payables to maintain liquidity
• Implement and maintain finance modules in ERP (e.g., Tally, SAP, Zoho)
• Ensure accurate data flow across inventory, sales, and finance systems
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance and accounting professionals
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Good to have:

• A Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA (Finance) from a reputed institute.
• Prior 5-10 years in accounting and finance, preferably in retail, manufacturing, D2C omnichannel sectors.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards (Ind AS), taxation, and compliance.
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and analysis.
• Excellent knowledge of Tally/ERP systems, MS Excel, and financial too
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience in a high-growth D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) retail brand.
• Familiarity with inventory-heavy business models and product lifecycle costing.
• Knowledge of import/export regulations and e-commerce financial management.
