Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in IT production operations / batch management (banking or financial services preferred).
• Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe JCL and understanding of CICS operational context for HO systems.
• Hands-on experience supporting Airflow (scheduling, DAG operations, monitoring, retries/backfills).

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and optimize batch schedules for business-critical workloads across DEV/UAT/PROD.
• Maintain runbooks/operational procedures for batch execution, monitoring, and recovery.
• Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams for release readiness and batch onboarding.
• Design and maintain batch workflows with clear upstream/downstream dependencies, calendars, cutoffs, and SLAs.
• Ensure sequencing integrity across EOD cycles with cross-system dependencies.
• Monitor batch execution, perform triage, restarts, and drive root-cause analysis for permanent fixes.
• Support Mainframe batch operations using JCL, maintaining controls and governance.

Job Description

The Batch Job Management Engineer (IT Operations / Production Control) is a key role responsible for configuring, managing, and optimizing enterprise batch processing across mainframe and distributed platforms supporting critical banking systems. The role focuses on ensuring operational stability, timely execution, resiliency, and controlled change management of batch workloads.

This position owns end to end batch operations including job scheduling, dependency/workflow management, failure triage and recovery, and continuous improvement/automation.

Configure and Manage Batch Jobs

• Configure, maintain, and optimize batch schedules for business-critical workloads across environments (DEV/UAT/PROD).
• Maintain runbooks/operational procedures for batch execution, monitoring, and recovery.
• Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams for release readiness and batch onboarding.

Manage Dependencies and Workflows

• Design and maintain batch workflows with clear upstream/downstream dependencies, calendars, cutoffs, and SLAs.
• Ensure sequencing integrity across EOD cycles, including cross system dependencies (core banking applications and eco systems).
• Implement controls to prevent duplicate runs, missed triggers, and inconsistent restart behaviour.

Address Failures (Production Support)

• Monitor batch execution, detect abnormal behaviors, and perform first level to advanced triage.
• Perform restarts/reruns with correct checkpoint/restart logic and documented approvals.
• Drive problem management: identify root causes, implement permanent fixes, and reduce repeat incidents.

Mainframe (HO Systems): CICS and JCL Operations (Non Production/Project only)

• Manage and support Mainframe batch operations using JCL, including job creation/updates, parameterization, dataset handling, and execution controls.
• Work with mainframe teams to ensure compliance with operational controls and change governance.

New Core banking Batch Jobs (Airflow)

• Support New Core Banking batch jobs orchestrated via Apache Airflow, including:
• DAG scheduling, dependency management, retries, alerts, and backfills
• Operational monitoring and incident response for failed tasks/runs
• Performance/stability tuning (where applicable)
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve DAG standards (naming, structure, alerting, operational readiness).

Process Improvement, Risk & Compliance

• Establish and refine batch operations best practices (job standards, naming conventions, SLAs, operational checklists).
• Ensure batch operations comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and security policies (least privilege, access control, change traceability).
• Participate in DR drills and ensure batch recovery procedures are tested and current.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in IT production operations / batch management (banking or financial services preferred).
• Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe JCL and good understanding of CICS operational context for HO systems.
• Hands on experience supporting Airflow (scheduling, DAG operations, monitoring, retries/backfills); experience with SEIBI batch jobs is a strong plus
