Job summary

Nilkamal in Tamil Nadu is seeking a skilled machine operator to run and monitor furniture component machining lines. You will set up machines per drawings, load panels, adjust parameters and ensure quality.

You will read engineering drawings, perform first-piece inspections and coordinate with maintenance while following 5S and safety standards. This role requires rotational shifts and teamwork across Production, Quality and Maintenance to meet delivery targets.

Qualifications

• ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Fitter, Machinist or related trades.
• 110 years of hands-on experience as a machine operator in furniture or related industries.
• Experience with MFD/CNC or woodworking/panel processing machines.
• Knowledge of machine setup, parameter setting, and tool changes.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor machines used for processing modular furniture components and panels.
• Set up machines per job requirements, drawings and process specifications.
• Load and unload panels safely and ensure correct positioning and clamping.
• Set and monitor machine parameters, programs, tools and fixtures for different jobs.
• Perform drilling, routing, cutting and other machining operations as per production plan.
• Ensure accurate dimensions, hole positions and machining quality of components.
• Read engineering drawings, job cards and work instructions.
• Carry out first-piece inspection and routine quality checks with measuring instruments.
• Identify deviations and defects and take corrective action.
• Coordinate with maintenance/engineering for breakdowns and technical issues.
• Carry out basic machine cleaning, lubrication and autonomous maintenance.
• Ensure optimum machine utilization to meet production, quality and delivery targets.
• Maintain machine records, production reports and rework details.
• Follow SOPs, safety standards, 5S and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and other teams for smooth workflow.
• Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.

• Maintain proper machine records, production reports and rejection/rework details.
• Follow SOPs, safety standards, 5S and quality requirements at all times.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and other teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Support continuous improvement, productivity improvement and waste reduction initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Fitter, Machinist, Mechatronics or related trades/disciplines.
• 110 years of hands-on experience as a machine operator in furniture, woodworking, panel processing, automotive or other precision manufacturing industries.
• Candidates with experience in MFD / CNC / woodworking / panel processing machines will be preferred.
• Practical knowledge of machine setup, parameter setting, tool changeover and job changeover.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions and work instructions.
• Experience in operating machines for drilling, routing, cutting and machining of furniture panels/components.
• Knowledge of basic measuring instruments such as Vernier caliper, measuring tape, gauges, etc.
• Good understanding of quality standards, dimensional accuracy and defect identification.
• Ability to identify basic machine abnormalities and coordinate for timely troubleshooting.
• Hands-on, disciplined and quality-conscious approach to shop-floor operations.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
• Candidates with exposure to 5S, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices will be preferred.
• Good teamwork, communication and adherence to safety and workplace discipline.
