Job summary

Algihaz Marine is seeking a Lead Installation Engineer to oversee offshore installation projects, including pipelines, subsea structures, jackets, and top sides. You will ensure deliverables are technically sound, aligned with project objectives, and compliant with client specs and standards.

You will act as the key technical interface between project management, offshore teams, and engineering disciplines to ensure safe, efficient installation operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, or Offshore Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore installation engineering for oil & gas or marine EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of offshore lifting, subsea, and pipeline installation methodologies.
• Offshore survival and HUET certification (preferred).
• Familiarity with API, DNV, ISO, and IMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate preparation of installation engineering deliverables (procedures, lifting studies, calculations).
• Develop installation strategies, sequences, and schedules with Project and Marine teams.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and industry standards in all designs.
• Review drawings to define offshore installation methodologies and readiness for execution.
• Provide engineering support during offshore operations and post-project documentation.

Job description

The Lead Installation Engineer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and managing the engineering aspects of offshore installation projects, including pipelines, subsea structures, jackets, and top sides. The role ensures that installation engineering deliverables are technically sound, aligned with project objectives, and compliant with client specifications, codes, and standards. The Lead Installation Engineer acts as the key technical interface between the project management, offshore execution teams, and engineering disciplines — ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective installation operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the preparation of installation engineering deliverables including procedures, method statements, lifting studies, and calculations.
• Develop installation strategies, sequences, and schedules in coordination with the Project and Marine teams.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and marine industry standards in all installation designs.
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to define offshore installation methodologies.
• Prepare load-out, lifting, rigging, and sea fastening designs as per project requirements.
• Interface with structural, pipeline, and marine engineers to ensure design integration.
• Participate in HAZID/HAZOP, constructability, and risk assessment workshops.
• Support procurement and subcontracting activities by preparing technical scopes and evaluating vendor offers.
• Provide engineering support during offshore operations, including readiness reviews and troubleshooting.
• Liaise with clients, Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS), and classification societies for technical approvals.
• Ensure all as-built data, lessons learned, and engineering documentation are compiled post-project.

Education & Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering input during the project planning and execution phases.
• Develop and validate detailed installation procedures for pipelines, risers, and structures.
• Support the Installation Manager in defining vessel requirements, spreads, and offshore execution plans.
• Conduct installation analyses including hydrodynamic, lifting, and stability assessments.
• Review subcontractor deliverables and ensure compliance with AMC and client standards.
• Prepare MTOs, rigging drawings, and equipment specifications for offshore operations.
• Coordinate engineering interfaces between design, fabrication, and offshore execution.
• Participate in FATs, SIMOPS reviews, and pre-mobilization briefings.
• Ensure lessons learned are documented and disseminated across projects.
• Support tendering teams with technical input and installation methodology descriptions when required.
