Job summary

Algihaz Marine is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to provide on-site engineering support for marine and offshore construction projects in India. You will bridge onshore engineering with offshore operations, ensuring safe, efficient execution in line with procedures and specs.

You will supervise field crews, interpret drawings, manage daily progress, and coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, and project management to verify installation readiness and documentation. Offshore rotations may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering is required.
• Minimum 7 years of offshore/marine construction or oil & gas field engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate engineering activities during offshore installation, fabrication, and hook-up works.
• Interpret project drawings, installation procedures, and method statements for field teams.
• Monitor daily construction progress, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to specifications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to vessel and barge operations teams.
• Prepare and update field reports, installation logs, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, and project management for inspections and verifications.
• Review installation readiness, including equipment checks and crew competency.

Role Summary

The Senior Field Engineer is responsible for providing on-site engineering support during the execution of marine and offshore construction projects. The role ensures that installation, fabrication, and construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, and specifications. Acting as the technical link between the onshore engineering team and offshore operations, the Senior Field Engineer contributes to effective planning, problem-solving, and coordination during project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate engineering-related activities during offshore installation, fabrication, and hook-up works.
• Interpret project drawings, installation procedures, and method statements for the field teams.
• Monitor daily construction progress, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety, and quality standards.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to vessel and barge operations teams.
• Prepare and update field reports, installation logs, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, and project management teams for inspection and verification activities.
• Review and confirm installation readiness, including equipment checks, lifting gear certification, and crew competency.
• Participate in pre-job meetings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to ensure proper work planning.
• Liaise with client representatives and survey teams for progress verification and documentation.
• Support load-out, sea fastening, and installation activities both onshore and offshore.
• Identify technical deviations and communicate necessary corrective actions to the Lead Engineer or Installation Manager.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in offshore/marine construction or oil & gas field engineering.
• Familiarity with subsea installation, pipeline, or structural works.
• Offshore survival and HUET certification (mandatory).
• Knowledge of API, DNV, and IMCA standards related to marine and offshore operations.
• Training in HSE and lifting operations is advantageous.

• Ensure that all field activities are executed as per approved engineering deliverables and project schedules.
• Supervise installation and construction crews to achieve technical and operational objectives.
• Verify offshore measurement data and support survey verification.
• Ensure material traceability and proper documentation control during execution.
• Support engineering updates and red-mark revisions for as-built documentation.
• Participate in pre-commissioning and testing activities as required.
• Report field issues, non-conformities, and improvement suggestions to engineering management.
• Coordinate with the Installation Manager to ensure smooth handover of work scopes.
• Maintain daily progress reports and field engineering records.
• Promote AMC’s safety culture and compliance with all QHSE procedures.
