Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited seeks an experienced HMI engineer to lead design, development, and validation of infotainment and vehicle displays. You will work on Android AOSP, QNX or Linux platforms and shape UX to delight customers while integrating with vehicle electronics.

You will collaborate with design, system, software and validation teams and ensure safety per ISO 26262, driving requirements from concept to delivery with strong Java/C++/Python skills and CAN/Ethernet familiarity.

Qualifications

• Experience in HMI design, development, implementation and validation for automotive infotainment.
• Deep knowledge of Android AOSP, QNX and Linux platforms.
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript with strong software engineering skills.
• Familiarity with safety standards such as ISO 26262.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage system requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop HMI system requirements aligned with the overall architecture.
• Create and maintain HMI system architecture integrating CAN and Ethernet.
• Work with UX designers to deliver a safe, intuitive user interface.
• Coordinate with SW developers on embedded platforms (QNX, Linux, Android).
• Support verification, validation and ensure compliance with automotive standards.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Key duties involve:
Develop HMI system requirements aligning with system architecture and software development on platforms Android AOSP, QNX or Linux.
Create the user experience that delights customer.
Collaborate with design, System, Software and Validation teams.
Ensure HMI is safe, seamless, and compliant with automotive standards.

Key responsibilities
Requirements management: Analyze customer needs, define system requirements, and manage them in a requirements database.
System design: Create and maintain the overall system architecture for the HMI, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with other vehicle electronics.
User experience (UX) development: Work with designers and product managers to create an intuitive and safe user interface, including touch and voice-enabled features.
Software implementation: Liase with Sw developers on various embedded platforms like QNX, Linux, and Android.
Safety and compliance: Ensure the HMI design adheres to safety standards like ISO 26262 and minimizes driver distraction.
Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and designers, to ensure project success.
Testing and validation: Support the verification and validation of the HMI system to ensure it meets performance and quality targets. Report the defects and track till closure.
Benchmark: Conduct benchmark on vehicles and research customer trends to define new HMI features.

Experience

Responsible for HMI design, development,implementation and validation for Infotainment, Cluster, Passenger display, AR HUD and Mobile app on passenger and commercial vehicles.
Should have alteast 5 to 7 years of experience.
Should have undertaken atleast one M6 projects from concept till delivery.

Qualifications

BE, ME/MTech ( Electronics)

General Requirements

Technical: Deep knowledge in automotive platforms Android AOSP, QNX and Linux.
Programming languages: Proficient in JAVA, C++, python and JAVAscript.
Design and Development tools: Proficient in Figma, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Unreal Engine, Kanzi, QT, Android Studio, Blender and Maya.
System-level: Strong understanding of system architecture,interfaces like CAN and Ethernet,requirements engineering, and functional safety (ISO 26262).
Soft skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Analytical: Ability to analyze and solve complex engineering problems.
Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive product development lifecycles and standards like ASPICE is a plus.
Project Management: Strong skills to manage team, tasks, projects, timelines on MS projects, JIRA and TEAMS.
