You will drive concept to final assembly, validate designs, and mentor the mechanical team, leveraging SolidWorks and rigorous design standards to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions for global customers. Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proven experience leading complex machine design and product development projects.
  • Experience mentoring mechanical design teams.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO, ASME, and DIN standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete mechanical design and development of advanced machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Drive the design process from concept development, feasibility studies, 3D modeling, engineering calculations, detailed drawings, prototype development, validation, and final product release.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards such as ISO, ASME, DIN, and relevant industry practices.
  • Establish design approaches, methodologies, and best practices for new machine development.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing machine designs for performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to mechanical design engineers and team members.
  • Review design concepts and provide technical guidance on complex mechanical engineering problems.
  • Establish design standards, drawing practices, tolerance guidelines, and engineering procedures.
  • Support the team in resolving critical design, manufacturing, and assembly challenges.
  • Conduct technical reviews and design evaluations at key project milestones.
  • Build and promote a strong engineering and problem-solving culture within the design team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced additive manufacturing machines and mechanical systems.

The candidate will be responsible for mechanical design activities from initial concept development through detailed design, validation, and final assembly. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in SolidWorks, a thorough understanding of mechanical design standards and validation processes, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Product Development
  • Lead the complete mechanical design and development of advanced machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Drive the design process from concept development, feasibility studies, 3D modeling, engineering calculations, detailed drawings, prototype development, validation, and final product release.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards such as ISO, ASME, DIN, and relevant industry practices.
  • Establish design approaches, methodologies, and best practices for new machine development.

Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to mechanical design engineers and team members.
  • Review design concepts and provide technical guidance on complex mechanical engineering problems.
  • Establish design standards, drawing practices, tolerance guidelines, and engineering procedures.
  • Support the team in resolving critical design, manufacturing, and assembly challenges.
  • Conduct technical reviews and design evaluations at key project milestones.
  • Build and promote a strong engineering and problem-solving culture within the design team.
Component Selection
  • Independently calculate, evaluate, and select critical machine components.
  • Select and size components such as bearings, spindles, ball screws, linear motion guides, motors, actuators, and other machine elements.
  • Ensure selected components meet performance, reliability, and application requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proven experience in industrial machinery, automation equipment, precision machinery, or capital equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex machine design and product development projects.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring mechanical design teams.
Core Domain Knowledge
  • Strong experience in general machinery or industrial equipment design.
  • Good knowledge of engineering design standards and codes, including ISO, ASME, and DIN.
  • Experience in cutting machines, precision machinery, or automated equipment will be an advantage.
Software Skills
  • Expert-level hands-on experience with SolidWorks.
  • Strong capability in complex 3D modeling, assemblies, and 2D drafting/detailing.
Engineering Skills
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Engineering mechanics
    • Static analysis
    • FEA
    • DFMEA
    • FMEA
    • Tolerance analysis
    • Machine design principles
    • Component selection and sizing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing machine design and development.
  • Experience with precision motion systems, CNC machines, cutting machines, robotics, or automated machinery.
  • Experience in new product development from concept to commercialization.
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Experience working with international customers or engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and safety requirements applicable to machinery.
  • Experience in cost optimization, design standardization, and value engineering.
