Designation: Lab Technician
Key Responsibilities:
1. Laboratory Testing
- Perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished socks.
- Conduct tests such as colour fastness, shrinkage, dimensional stability, pH, GSM, bursting strength, tensile strength, colour matching, and other customer-specific tests.
- Verify product quality against approved specifications and testing standards.
2. Quality Control & Analysis
- Analyse test results and report deviations to the Deputy Manager Lab.
- Support root cause analysis for quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all production batches meet customer quality requirements before release.
3. Laboratory Equipment & Calibration
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as Spectrophotometer, GSM Cutter, pH Meter, Crock Meter, Tensile Tester, and other testing equipment.
- Ensure timely calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, calibration logs, and technical documentation.
- Update laboratory data in ERP/LIMS systems and prepare daily test reports.
- Ensure traceability of all test samples and results.
5. Compliance & Safety
- Follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, and good laboratory practices.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, ISO standards, Oeko-Tex, RSL, and other applicable testing protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards within the laboratory.
6. Cross-Functional Support
- Coordinate with QA, Production, Product Development, and Merchandising teams regarding testing requirements.
- Support new product development, sample approvals, and customer audit activities.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and laboratory efficiency.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of textile and socks testing methods
- Familiarity with AATCC, ISO, ASTM, and customer-specific testing standards
- Hands-on experience with laboratory testing equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/LIMS systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / B.Sc. in Textile Technology, Textile Chemistry, Chemistry, Fabric Technology, or a related discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in a textile laboratory, quality control, or testing function, preferably in socks, hosiery, garments, or textile manufacturing
- Hands-on experience in physical, chemical, and colour testing of textile materials will be preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, calibration procedures, and customer testing standards will be an added advantage.
