Job summary

Nesans Mining And Automation in Tamil Nadu's Madukkarai plant seeks a Junior Production Engineer to oversee day-to-day shop floor execution, manpower deployment, and work allocation, ensuring production and dispatch targets are met for heavy fabrication and sheet metal work.

The role requires reading fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and BOMs; 1–3 years in fabrication, and willingness to relocate to Coimbatore area. Freshers with strong drawing reading may be considered.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical with relevant fabrication experience.
• 1–3 years in a fabrication or heavy engineering environment. Freshers with strong drawing reading may be considered.
• Confident reading fabrication drawings and weld symbols without hand-holding.
• Ability to handle contract and permanent shop floor manpower firmly and fairly.
• Willing to work at Madukkarai plant; Coimbatore-based or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Manpower handling: Daily deployment of fitters, welders, gas cutters and helpers across jobs; supervise shift discipline, attendance and overtime.
• Work allocation: Assign jobs against drawings and job cards based on skill and machine availability.
• Production planning: Prepare and maintain daily and weekly production plans against dispatch schedule.
• Completing production commitments: Own the committed dispatch dates for assigned equipment and address bottlenecks.
• Work follow-up: Track WIP and coordinate with Design, Stores, Purchase and QC to clear holds.
• Heavy fabrication: Supervise plate marking, gas/plasma cutting, edge preparation, fit-up and welding sequence.
• Sheet metal fabrication: Supervise shearing, bending, punching and profile cutting for guards and covers.
• Drawing knowledge: Read GA and fabrication drawings, weld symbols, tolerances and BOMs.
• Maintain production records, job cards and material consumption data; support 5S and safety on the floor.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Junior Production Engineer to run day-to-day shop floor execution manpower deployment, work allocation, and follow-up so that committed production and dispatch targets are met. The role covers both heavy fabrication (crusher frames, chassis, hoppers, chutes, screen bodies) and sheet metal work (guards, covers, ducting, liners).

Key Responsibilities

• Manpower handling: Daily deployment of fitters, welders, gas cutters and helpers across jobs; supervise shift discipline, attendance and overtime; build skill-wise deployment so the right man is on the right job.
• Work allocation: Assign jobs against drawings and job cards based on skill level and machine availability; issue clear instructions on sequence, fit-up and welding.
• Production planning: Prepare and maintain daily and weekly production plans against the dispatch schedule; ensure material, consumables, fixtures and bought-out items are ready ahead of the job.
• Completing production commitments: Own the committed dispatch dates for assigned equipment; identify bottlenecks early and elevate with a corrective plan rather than after the delay.
• Work follow-up: Track WIP stage-wise; coordinate with Design, Stores, Purchase and QC to clear holds; keep production status updated daily.
• Heavy fabrication: Supervise plate marking, gas/plasma cutting, edge preparation, fit-up, welding sequence and distortion control on heavy structural assemblies.
• Sheet metal fabrication: Supervise shearing, bending, punching and profile cutting; ensure fit and finish on covers, guards, chutes and sheet assemblies.
• Drawing knowledge: Read and interpret GA and fabrication drawings, weld symbols, tolerances and BOMs; verify executed work against the drawing before it moves to the next stage.
• Maintain production records, job cards and material consumption data; support 5S, housekeeping and safety compliance on the floor.

What We Are Looking For

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical with relevant fabrication experience.
• 1–3 years in a fabrication or heavy engineering environment. Freshers with strong drawing reading and workshop exposure may be considered.
• Confident reading fabrication drawings and weld symbols without hand-holding.
• Ability to handle contract and permanent shop floor manpower firmly and fairly.
• Working knowledge of welding processes (SMAW/MIG), gas and CNC profile cutting, and general machine shop practice.
• Willing to work at our Madukkarai plant; Coimbatore-based or willing to relocate.
