Job summary

Mattel Global Business Services is seeking a seasoned IBM i production support professional to join our Hyderabad team. You will handle L2/L3 support for RPG, CL, and SQL on Db2 for i, monitor health, logs and performance, and drive rapid incident resolution within SLAs.

Role includes RCA, permanent fixes, and on-call participation. You will coordinate onshore/offshore work, ensure security/compliance, and work across development and production environments to maintain high availability.

Role & responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support for IBM i applications built in RPG (RPGLE/ILE), CL/CLLE, and SQL on Db2 for i.


• Monitor application health, system logs, and performance metrics, and identify potential issues.


• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within defined SLA timelines.


• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes or preventive measures.


• Handle on-call support and incident escalations as required.


• Cross-system function support, e.g., EDI integration.


• Manage and coordinate work assignments between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and timely execution


• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and audit requirements.


• Working knowledge of any Change Management tools.


• Must have experience and willingness to work both in development and production support environments.

• Technical Skills


• Strong handson experience with IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) operations


• Proficiency in RPG (RPGLE/ILE), SQL-RPG, SQLRPGLE, and CL/CLLE; solid knowledge of DDS, DB2/400, SQL/Db2 for i (querying, tuning, access paths).


• Practical experience administering CA Job Scheduler on IBM i (job definitions, calendars, dependencies, notifications).


• Familiarity with HA/DR technologies on IBM i (e.g., MIMIX, PowerHA, or similar): monitoring replication, audits, and role swaps.


• Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge).


• Experience with Subfile programming, Batch jobs, Interactive screens, Message/Data Queues, and Job Scheduling, etc.
