Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management & Stock Control
- Stock Control Procedures: Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including stock tracking and stock rotation across R&D stores.
- Monthly Inventory Audit: Conduct monthly inventory audits to verify inventory accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
- Quarterly Cycle Counts: Conduct quarterly cycle counts to check and confirm inventory status against system records.
- Reconciliation: Manage and oversee stock counts, reconcile variances, and take corrective action where discrepancies are found.
2. Procurement & Material Flow
- Purchase Requisitions: Coordinate with the central store team on Purchase Requisitions (PRs) raised, following up to clear bottlenecks.
- Material Inward & Outward: Manage material inward and outward movement, keeping accurate, real-time records.
- GRN Processing: Complete Goods Receipt Note (GRN) filing for material received from external vendors.
3. Storage Management
- Organisation & Cleanliness: Oversee the organisation and cleanliness of storage facilities.
- Space Optimisation: Optimise storage space utilisation and ensure efficient, safe material handling.
4. Reporting, Analysis & SAP Transactions
- Material Disposition: Ensure material disposition requests are filed for crashed or disposed products.
- SAP Work Orders: Prepare work orders and complete product posting in SAP for released products.
- Monthly SAP Consumption: Process SAP transactions for consumed products on a monthly basis, in consultation with Finance.
- Inventory Analysis Reporting: Produce a monthly R&D inventory analysis report covering stock levels, material velocity, and consumption patterns.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Education
- Degree: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering, supply chain, or scientific discipline.
Experience
- Experience Level: 10 to 15 years of experience in inventory control, stores management, or materials/stock management, ideally within an R&D, manufacturing, or prototype environment.
- Preferred Background: Armed Forces veterans (Logistics/Technical/EME arms) are strongly preferred, given the fit with structured stock discipline and accountability.
Technical & Core Competencies
- SAP Proficiency: Working proficiency in SAP (MM/WM modules) for PR, GRN, work order, and posting transactions.
- Inventory Auditing: Practical experience with inventory auditing techniques, cycle counting, and variance reconciliation.
- Analytics Tools: Comfortable with MS Excel and other analytics tools for stock-level and consumption reporting.
- Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with relevant safety and material-handling compliance standards for sensitive electronic, mechanical, and composite components.

- Strong, Influential Personality: Able to maintain accountability and stock discipline across a fast-paced R&D environment without direct authority over every stakeholder.
- Organised & Detail-Oriented: Keeps accurate records under time pressure, especially ahead of audits and cycle counts.
- Cross-functional Communication: Coordinates effectively with store, procurement, and Finance teams to keep material flow and reporting on schedule.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Inventory Accuracy: Variance between system records and physical stock, measured at each monthly audit and quarterly cycle count.
- Reconciliation Turnaround: Time taken to investigate and close out identified stock discrepancies.
- PR/GRN Cycle Time: Average time from PR raised to GRN completion for incoming material.
- Reporting Timeliness: On-time delivery of the monthly R&D inventory analysis report and SAP consumption postings.
