Job summary

Mr Price is seeking an Inventory Controller to monitor and optimize inventory flow through the distribution centre, ensuring quality and accuracy of stock records. The role involves coordinating with production and internal teams to improve processes and prevent discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Relevant inventory management and business administration qualification.
• 2-3 years’ experience in DC environment + 3 years in inventory control experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan inventory flow through the DC.
• Ensure accuracy of the WMS and cycle counts.
• Liaise with stakeholders including DC, IT, couriers, suppliers and stores.
• Investigate variances between the WMS and Host/ERP and report findings to the inventory team.
• Monitor quality control processes and risk areas, driving improvements.
• Reconcile inventory with adjustments, ensuring integrity of stock records.
• Monitor admin and inventory controls and identify trends to raise with management.
• Support audits and assist with stock ageing and dispersion planning.

Job description

The overall purpose of this role is to monitor and control inventory processes, to optimise the flow of inventory through the DC, ensuring that quality and accuracy is maintained.

Responsibilities

Inventory Accuracy and optimization

• Coordination and planning of inventory flow through the DC
• Carrying out action plans that will ensure accuracy of the WMS.
• Working with the production team to ensure optimization within processes.
• Liaising with stakeholders when necessary regarding issues or communications. These include internal DC, IT teams, couriers, divisional teams, suppliers, customers, auditors and stores/store Inventory Teams.
• Monitoring of exceptions (variances between the warehouse WMS system, and the Host/ERP system) and feeding back to Durban DC Inventory team, management and production teams with findings/recommendations.

Inventory Control

• Monitoring quality control processes and ensuring that all risk areas are monitored through controls.
• Researching, raising call logs, follow-up, and conducting investigations into processes aiming to continuously improve them.
• Reconciling inventory through investigations, adjustments, ensuring integrity and accuracy of the stock management system.
• Monitoring admin and inventory process controls, and driving inventory accuracy within internal departments by identifying trends and raising this with management.
• Control perpetual inventory stock counting / inventory; Providing assistance to internal and external audits teams.
• Monitor overstocks and stock ageing and communicating with production team to clear stock.
• Implement improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory issues.
• Work with the Inventory Lead to ensure cycle counts are controlled and monitored.
• Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.
• Write and maintain accurate written procedures for all main inventory control processes and functions.
• Monitor store queries, and where spikes are detected, investigate further.
• Monitor Stock in Transit (to the DC) and ensure all transfers are with specified ageing window.
• Work collaboratively with the Durban warehouse inventory team.
• Support warehouse managers when required.
