Job summary

Roquette is seeking a Buyer at its Pantnagar plant to drive cost-focused sourcing in a manufacturing environment. You will coordinate with user departments, source suppliers, negotiate terms, monitor requisitions, and release purchase orders to ensure timely material availability.

The role requires 7–10+ years in manufacturing, with a background in B.Tech Mechanical and Diploma in Materials Management. You will support payments, vendor development, and ARC processes while maintaining compliance

Qualifications

• B.Tech Mechanical Engineering and Diploma in Materials Management (preferred).
• 7 to 10+ years in manufacturing sector.
• Sound knowledge of purchasing principles.
• Market knowledge on capital purchases and supplier evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Understand purchase requirements from user departments.
• Receive and monitor purchase requisitions.
• Identify suppliers, float enquiries/RFPs, prepare TBA & CBA of offers, negotiate and release orders/rate contracts.
• Manage relationships with vendors to ensure supply and performance.
• Support users and accounts during payment processes.
• Develop vendors for ARC and consolidate consumables.
• Manage alternative suppliers for cost effectiveness.
• Prepare MIS reports as required and maintain audit-ready records.
• Ensure material availability at plant within project/import timelines.

This position is responsible for effective and cost oriented sourcing operations for the plant adhering to the SOP's with a focus on sustainable and environment friendly outlook.

Key accountabilities:

Dealing with User departments for understanding the Purchase requirements

Receive and monitor purchase requisitions.

Identifying suppliers, floating enquiries/RFPs, preparing TBA & CBA of offers received from vendors, negotiation and creating orders/Rate-contracts. Releasing purchase orders as required.

Managing the relationship with the vendors on the ongoing basis to ensure adherence to the supply and performance

Supporting users and account department for payment process.

Developing the vendor for ARC for consolidating various consumable requirements

Understanding the requirement and managing alternative suppliers which is cost effective

Preparing MIS Reports as per requirement of management within the given deadline

Maintaining of records and documents concerned for Audit and compliance

Budget/Saving Related Reports

Ensuring Material Availability at plant within defined & desired realistic timeline related to Projects & Import.

Provides guidance and assistance to the team in all aspects of purchasing.

Ensures that all purchasing is in compliance with regulations and laws related to Purchasing practices and in accordance with Roquette standard practices.

Coordinates and resolves problems with end user departments and suppliers

Resolving issues and correspondence with vendor / contractors for material delivery

Managing logistics activities and co-ordination with store and account department for payment process.

Defining and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory at plant based on production plan.

Sound knowledge of purchasing principals, Market knowledge on Capital purchase, negotiation skills, Project management, supplier development and supplier evaluation & others.

Strong communication skills to coordinate with the relevant functions like Engg., manufacturing to help clearly define purchasing
