Job Description – Assistant Manager HR & Payroll

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR professional with a background in the Event Management industry to manage end-to-end HR operations, payroll processing, employee engagement, recruitment, and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate should be capable of handling a dynamic workforce, managing multiple priorities, and supporting business growth through effective HR practices.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Compensation Management
- Process monthly payroll accurately and within timelines.
- Verify attendance, leaves, overtime, incentives, reimbursements, and deductions.
- Manage salary processing, salary slips, and payroll reports.
- Handle Full & Final settlements, gratuity calculations, and employee benefit administration.
- Resolve payroll-related employee queries promptly.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for corporate, operations, production, creative, client servicing, and event execution teams.
- Coordinate with department heads to understand manpower requirements.
- Source candidates through job portals, social media platforms, employee referrals, and recruitment agencies.
- Conduct screening, interviews, and offer negotiations.
- Maintain a healthy talent pipeline for ongoing and future hiring needs.
HR Operations
- Manage employee lifecycle processes from onboarding to exit.
- Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and HRMS databases.
- Handle attendance, leave management, confirmation, promotions, and transfers.
- Generate HR MIS reports and workforce analytics.
Employee Engagement & Culture Building
- Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives to improve employee morale and retention.
- Organize team-building activities, annual events, festival celebrations, employee recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
- Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and feedback sessions.
- Drive reward and recognition programs to foster a positive work culture.
- Support internal communication initiatives and culture-building activities.
Employee Relations
- Handle employee grievances and workplace concerns.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Support disciplinary actions and conflict resolution processes.
- Build strong relationships with employees across all levels.
Performance Management
- Coordinate annual and mid-year appraisal processes.
- Support goal setting, KPI tracking, and performance evaluations.
- Assist managers in performance improvement and employee development plans.
Training & Development
- Identify skill gaps and training needs.
- Coordinate internal and external learning programs.
- Maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, Gratuity, Bonus, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain statutory records and ensure timely submissions.
- Coordinate audits and labor law compliance activities.
- Stay updated with labor law amendments and HR best practices.
Candidate Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HR Generalist and Payroll functions.
- Prior experience in an Event Management, Exhibition, Experiential Marketing, Media, Entertainment, Advertising, or Production company is preferred.
- Experience managing a diverse workforce, including permanent employees, contractual staff, and event-based manpower.
