We are seeking a strategic and execution-driven HR Manager to spearhead our people operations, talent acquisition, and employee lifecycle management.
The role will have a strong emphasis on building high-performing field sales teams, managing multi-location HR operations, reducing attrition, and establishing scalable HR processes and policies.
The HR Manager will also work closely with senior leadership to support the setup and staffing of the upcoming Operations Department, including hiring Operations Managers and building their supporting teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition & Field Hiring Primary Focus
- Drive end-to-end recruitment for Field Sales Executives, Sales Managers, Regional Business Development Managers, Operations Managers, and other key positions across existing and upcoming branch locations.
- Build strong talent pipelines for rapid hiring requirements across multiple cities and regions.
- Source specialized candidates from the building materials, steel trading, hardware, construction supplies, manufacturing, logistics, and industrial supply sectors.
- Develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies through:
- Local and regional job portals
- Employee referrals
- Industry networks
- Professional networking platforms
- Direct headhunting
- Local talent networks
- Recruitment consultants, wherever required
- Develop strong regional talent networks, particularly across South India.
- Lead hiring campaigns for Operations Managers and key team members required to establish new regional operations departments.
- Ensure recruitment turnaround time and quality-of-hire targets are consistently achieved.
2. People Management & Employee Relations
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for employees across the company's multi-city branch network.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and performance-related issues.
- Provide performance coaching and guidance to employees and managers.
- Develop initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention, productivity, and workplace culture.
- Build a strong, performance-driven culture across regional offices.
- Monitor and address employee attrition, particularly among field sales teams.
- Implement structured KPI/KRA-based performance management systems aligned with business objectives.
- Support managers in conducting performance reviews and taking corrective actions where required.
3. Operations Department Setup
- Work closely with senior leadership to define the organizational structure for the upcoming Operations Department.
- Develop job descriptions, role structures, manpower plans, and headcount requirements.
- Assist leadership with workforce planning and headcount budgeting.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding of Operations Managers and supporting teams.
- Coordinate onboarding plans, training schedules, induction programs, and HR documentation.
- Ensure new employees are aligned with company policies, processes, culture, and compliance requirements.
4. HR Operations, Compliance & Multi-State HR Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian labour laws, employment regulations, and statutory requirements across multiple states.
- Manage HR compliance requirements for operations in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and future expansion states.
- Maintain proper employee records, documentation, HR files, and statutory registers.
- Oversee payroll inputs, attendance, leave management, incentives, and employee benefits administration.
- Establish and maintain HR SOPs, policies, processes, and employee handbooks.
- Standardize HR processes across branches and locations.
- Develop scalable HR systems to support rapid national expansion.
- Coordinate with payroll, finance, legal, and external consultants wherever required for statutory and compliance matters.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong Talent Acquisition and Recruitment expertise, particularly for field sales and regional hiring.
- Proven ability to source and close candidates in South Indian talent markets.
- Strong understanding of recruitment in building materials, steel, manufacturing, logistics, construction supplies, or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and multi-state HR compliance.
- Hands-on experience with HR operations, payroll coordination, attendance, leave, and employee documentation.
- Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution skills.
- High emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple hiring requirements simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in developing KPI/KRA and performance management systems.
- Ability to work closely with senior leadership and translate business requirements into HR solutions.
- HR software/HRMS knowledge is required.
Preferred Experience
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience
- At least 3 years of dedicated HR experience in one or more of the following sectors:
- Building Materials
- Steel Trading
- Manufacturing
- Logistics
- Construction Supplies
- Industrial Supply
- Experience handling multi-location or branch-based HR operations will be highly preferred.
- Experience hiring field sales teams and regional management is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with experience in setting up new teams, branches, or departments will have an added advantage.
