Job summary

Anandmayee Forgings seeks a dedicated inspector to ensure quality in hot forging operations. You will perform dimensional checks, monitor process parameters, document results, and coordinate with production to address defects.

Qualifications

  • Reading engineering drawings and interpreting tolerances.

Job description

1. Hot Forging Inspection

Inspect forged parts for visible defects such as:

  • Underfill
  • Overfill
  • Laps and folds
  • Cracks
  • Surface defects
  • Misalignment
  • Distortion or bending

Verify that the forging shape matches the required profile.

2. Dimensional Checks

Measure critical dimensions using:

  • Hot gauges
  • Templates
  • Vernier calipers (when applicable)
  • Specialized inspection fixtures

Ensure dimensions are within specified tolerances.

3. Process Monitoring

Monitor forging parameters such as:

  • Billet temperature
  • Die temperature
  • Press/hammer performance
  • Material flow during forging

Report abnormalities that may affect product quality.

4. Quality Documentation

Record inspection results.

Maintain production and quality records.

Prepare inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) when defects are found.

5. Defect Analysis

Identify recurring forging defects.

Coordinate with production, die maintenance, and quality teams to determine root causes.

Recommend corrective and preventive actions.

6. First Piece and In-Process Inspection

Conduct first-off inspections at the start of production runs.

Perform periodic in-process inspections to ensure consistency.

7. Compliance and Standards

Ensure products meet:

  • Customer specifications
  • Drawing requirements
  • Internal quality standards
  • Relevant industry standards (such as ASTM International, SAE International, or customer-specific requirements)
8. Safety Responsibilities

Follow hot-work safety procedures.

Use appropriate PPE:

  • Heat-resistant gloves
  • Face shield
  • Safety shoes
  • Protective clothing

Ensure safe handling of hot forgings.
