Job summary

Peoples University is seeking a Hardware Engineer to ensure smooth IT hardware functioning across its campuses (academic, administrative, hospital, and hostel). The role covers desktop/server hardware, peripherals, networking gear, and IT infrastructure management.

The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of hands-on hardware maintenance experience in educational or large organizational settings, with certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+, and Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Computer Applications, or a related discipline.
• Diploma in Computer Hardware, Electronics, or IT Hardware & Networking is desirable.
• MCA, B.Tech, BE, or equivalent qualifications will be an added advantage.
• 5 years hands-on experience in computer hardware maintenance, desktop support, and IT infrastructure management.
• Experience in Universities, Educational Institutions, Hospitals, or large corporate environments will be preferred.
• CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ preferred; Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or equivalent; CCNA advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, OS issues, and device-related problems.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain Windows OS and standard software applications.
• Perform preventive maintenance of IT hardware and maintain service records.
• Configure and support BIOS, storage devices, RAM upgrades, and hardware replacements.
• Install and troubleshoot networking hardware including switches, routers, wireless access points, and structured cabling.
• Provide first-level support for servers, storage devices, CCTV systems, biometric devices, and IP telephony.
• Manage IT asset inventory, warranty tracking, and documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, AMC support, and warranty claims.
• Ensure timely resolution of user complaints while maintaining SLAs.
• Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, deployment of new systems, and technology refresh projects.
• Follow IT security policies and ensure safe handling of hardware assets.

Job description

Hardware Engineer. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in computer hardware, desktop support, server maintenance, peripheral devices, networking hardware, and IT infrastructure management. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of all IT hardware across the University's academic, administrative, hospital, and hostel campuses.

Key Responsibilities

Eligibility Criteria Educational Qualification

Experience

l Minimum 5 yearsof hands-on experience in computer hardware maintenance, desktop support, and IT infrastructure management.

Technical Skills

l Strong knowledge of computer hardware architecture and troubleshooting.

l Experience with desktop and laptop repair, printer support, and peripheral device maintenance.

l Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 installation, imaging, and system deployment.

l Basic knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, networking, and LAN troubleshooting.

l Understanding of structured cabling, UPS systems, and power management.

l Familiarity with server hardware, RAID configuration, storage devices, and backup solutions.

l Experience with IT asset management tools and help desk/ticketing systems.
