Role Summary
The Group Brand Manager Staples will lead the strategic growth and development of the Staples portfolio, driving brand building, category growth, consumer engagement, innovation and market share. The role will have a strong focus on building brands across traditional retail as well as E-commerce and Digital Commerce channels, leveraging consumer insights and emerging market trends to accelerate growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category & Brand Strategy
- Develop and execute the overall category and brand strategy for Staples, aligned with business growth objectives.
- Drive brand positioning, architecture, consumer proposition and annual brand plans.
- Identify category growth opportunities through consumer, market and competitive insights.
2. Innovation & Portfolio Management
- Lead new product development, renovation and portfolio expansion across Staples.
- Identify emerging consumer trends and translate them into differentiated products and propositions.
- Drive portfolio rationalization, pack architecture, pricing and premiumization initiatives.
3. Integrated Marketing & E-commerce
- Develop integrated marketing campaigns across TV, digital, social, retail and E-commerce platforms.
- Drive E-commerce and Quick Commerce growth, including platform strategy, digital visibility, content, promotions and consumer acquisition.
- Leverage digital consumer insights, search trends and platform analytics to improve brand performance and conversion.
- Partner with E-commerce, Sales and Trade Marketing teams to build differentiated channel strategies.
4. Business & Commercial Growth
- Track revenue, market share, penetration, margins, brand health and marketing ROI.
- Develop initiatives to drive consumption, distribution and category penetration across priority markets.
- Manage marketing investments and optimize spends across channels based on business impact.
5. Cross-functional Leadership
- Work closely with Sales, E-commerce, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance and Consumer Insights teams.
- Manage external agencies and partners to deliver impactful brand and consumer initiatives.
- Mentor and develop the brand team while fostering a strong performance-oriented culture.
Experience & Qualifications
- MBA/PGDM in Marketing from a reputed institute.
- 8–12 years of experience in Brand Management/Category Management within FMCG.
- Experience in Staples, Food, Packaged Foods or Consumer Products is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in brand building, innovation, category growth and integrated marketing.
- Strong exposure to E-commerce, Quick Commerce and Digital Commerce is essential.
- Experience in managing digital-first campaigns, E-commerce platforms and online consumer journeys will be an advantage.
- Strong commercial orientation with demonstrated ownership of business growth and market share.
- Excellent strategic thinking, consumer understanding, communication and stakeholder management skills.
