• Strong experience in APQP/PPAP, DFM and customer management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare feasibility studies and process concepts; clarify queries with customers; ensure manufacturability and quality compliance.
• Quote parts to customers and finalize part cost; track open points from sample evaluations.
• Plan and execute tool trials, pilot production, and validate part quality.
• Select machines, materials, tools and fixtures for product development; own NPD across plants.
• Monitor product costs vs targets; lead technical reviews with vendors and drive supplier capability.
• Oversee Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tool design, prototype builds; deploy APQP/PPAP and audits.
• Coordinate with purchasing for machines/materials; manage customer/system audits and ECNs.
• Lead R&D, design, manufacturing, quality and procurement teams; obtain customer approvals.

Job Description:

• Prepare feasibility study, process concept, clarify technical queries with customers and ensure parts manufacturability and quality compliances.
• Quoting to the customer (Part Cost Preparation).
• Negotiation and finalization of the part cost.
• Track open points arising from customer sample evaluation.
• Plan and execute tool trials, pilot production, validate part quality.
• Ensure proper selection of machines, materials, tools & fixtures for product development.
• Act as a main owner for NPD across multiple plants. set projects guidelines, set milestones and launch budgets.
• Monitor product costs versus target, manage technical reviews with vendors and drive supplier capability.
• Oversee Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tool design and pilot/prototype builds.
• Deploy standards like APQP, PPAP, etc and ensuring adherence to IATF 16949 and regulatory rules.
• Direct teams in R&D, design, manufacturing, quality and procurement.
• Obtaining parts approval from customers.
• Coordination with purchase team for procuring required machines and materials.
• Supplier selection for child parts.
• Customer handling.
• Participate, manage IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and other customer specific audits. Also action plan and corrective action to be taken for NCs (if any).
• Implementing Engineering Change Notice (ECN).
• The role also involves participating in and managing customer/system audits.

Ideal candidate profile

The ideal candidate would likely have 20+ years in automotive sheet-metal/auto-component manufacturing, with substantial experience progressing from engineering/tooling/process development into NPD leadership.
