We are looking for an NPD Engineer with 2-7 years of experience in New Product Development, preferably from the rubber, polymer, automotive, or auto-component manufacturing industry.
The candidate will be responsible for coordinating new product development activities from initial customer requirements through prototype development, trials, validation, process development, and successful product launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage New Product Development (NPD) activities from receipt of customer requirements through product launch.
- Understand customer drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and product standards.
- Coordinate with customers and internal departments for new product development activities.
- Support preparation and execution of APQP activities for new products.
- Prepare and maintain PPAP documentation as per customer requirements.
- Coordinate prototype/sample development, trials, testing, and validation activities.
- Support development of manufacturing processes for new products in coordination with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Engineering teams.
- Prepare and review PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan, and related process documentation.
- Support MSA and SPC activities during product and process development.
- Monitor development timelines and ensure timely completion of NPD milestones.
- Coordinate trial runs and analyze trial results to identify and resolve development issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis for product/process-related issues during development.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to address development and quality issues.
- Ensure products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support validation and testing of new products and processes.
- Maintain proper documentation and records related to product development.
- Participate in customer visits, technical discussions, audits, and development reviews as required.
- Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives related to new products.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IATF 16949 requirements and company quality procedures.
Required Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of New Product Development (NPD) processes.
- Working knowledge of APQP and PPAP.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, SPC, and MSA.
- Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, preferably rubber/polymer components.
- Experience in prototype development, product trials, validation, and process development.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
- BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-7 years of relevant experience in NPD / Product Development / Quality / Process Engineering.
- Candidates with experience in the Rubber / Polymer / Automotive / Auto Component industry will be preferred.
- Experience in handling new product development, customer requirements, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, and MSA.
- Should have good exposure to product trials, process development, validation, and production launch.
- Should be capable of working closely with cross-functional teams.
- Candidates should demonstrate good technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- NPD Engineers / Junior Engineers / Engineers with relevant manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.
3.0 LPA - 5.0 LPA, depending on experience, skills, and suitability for the role.
