Job summary

Liebherr CMCtec India Private Limited in Pune (India) seeks a quality technician to assist in incoming inspections, CMM-based dimensional checks, and materials testing. You will verify supplier documents, record data in ERP, and ensure traceability from heat numbers to inspection lots.

Qualifications include a BE/B.Tech in mechanical or related fields, knowledge of GD&T, and familiarity with CMM software. Fresh graduates welcome; training provided.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Metallurgy, or Mechatronics Engineering with strong academics.
• Knowledge of GD&T and measurement techniques from education or internship.
• Experience with CMM operations is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Incoming Quality Inspection of raw materials, bought-out parts, machined components, fabricated parts, and assemblies.
• Assist CMM Engineer in setup, programming, and dimensional inspection using CMMs (Zeiss/Hexagon or equivalent).
• Prepare inspection reports, CMM reports, and lab summaries with traceability to heat code and batch number.
• Support NCRs, 8D, and follow-up actions with suppliers; update ERP and digital checklists.
• Material testing support: Tensile, Charpy, Hardness, and basic spectroscopy analysis.

Job description

• Assist in receiving inspection of raw materials, bought-out parts, machined components, fabricated parts, and assemblies.
• Conduct visual inspection, dimensional verification, functional checks, and basic NDT as per WI & QAP.
• Ensure strict compliance to drawing tolerances, specifications, and standards (ISO, EN, DIN). Record data accurately in ERP Q-Module, generate inspection reports, and update NCRs when required.
• Support quarantine, segregation, and disposition of nonconforming lots.
• CMM Inspection & Programming:
• Assist CMM Engineer in setting-up, operating, and performing dimensional inspection using CMM (Zeiss / Hexagon or equivalent).
• Learn and support creation of CMM programs (CALYPSO / PC-DMIS / QUINDOS). Interpret GD&T symbols, datum schemes, profile tolerances, and complex geometric features.
• Perform fixture setup, probing strategy development, alignment creation, and inspection data validation.
• Generate CMM reports, store measurement results, and maintain calibration status.
• Support gauge R&R studies, measurement system capability analysis, and uncertainty awareness.
• Assist in mechanical testing: Tensile, Charpy, Hardness (HBW/HRC/HV). Support chemical analysis using spectrometer/portable analyzers.
• Manage sample preparation: cutting, mounting, grinding polishing, etching. Maintain records of test results, calibration logs, traceability to heat number.
• Ensure safe handling of equipment, adherence to lab standard procedures.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Prepare inspection reports, CMM reports, test certificates, and lab summaries.
• Maintain strict traceability based on heat code, batch number, and inspection lot.
• Support in preparing NCR documents, 8D, 5 Why, and follow-up actions with suppliers.
• Update ERP systems, digital checklists, and quality records with zero errors.
• Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement:
• Follow and learn ISO 9001 / ISO 17025 / ISO 14001 requirements for quality labs.
• Participate in 5S, kaizen activities, mistake-proofing, and process standardization.
• Assist in CAPA implementation, supplier feedback loops, and improvement projects.
• Participate in internal audits and compliance verification tasks.

• Qualification and Education Requirements:
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Metallurgy, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Strong academic background in Engineering Drawing, Manufacturing Processes, Materials Technology, and Quality tools.
• Basic exposure to metrology, GD&T, and inspection techniques from academics or internship.
• Experience: (Preferred but Not Mandatory)
• 0–1 years (Fresh graduates preferred).
• Any internship or project work in Quality, Metrology Lab, CMM, Supplier Quality, or Material Testing will be an advantage.
• Exposure to CMM operation/programming, metallography, or mechanical testing is desirable.

• Basic knowledge of measurement tools (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Surface Plate).

• Familiarity with CMM software (even basic exposure).
• Knowledge of material specifications, heat treatment, and mechanical properties.
• Understanding of quality tools: 5 Why, Ishikawa, Pareto, Cp/Cpk basics.
