Job summary

Liebherr CMCtec India Private Limited in Pune invites an experienced Metrology Engineer to develop and optimize CMM programs for gearbox components, inspect gears, shafts, housings, and assemblies, and establish datum schemes for complex parts.

You will validate results against drawings, support MSA and 8D processes, review supplier PPAPs, perform GR&R, and contribute to continual gear manufacturing quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
• Training in Metrology or Gear Technology preferred.
• 2-5 years in gearbox / precision machining / automotive transmission industry.
• Hands-on experience in CMM operation and programming mandatory.
• Exposure to gear inspection is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CMM programs (QUINDOS / PC-DMIS / CALYPSO / MCOSMOS) for gearbox components.
• Inspect gears, shafts, housings, and assemblies using CMM and precision metrology systems.
• Establish datum schemes and measurement strategies for complex rotational parts.
• Validate results against drawing requirements, GD&T, and master references.
• Conduct GR&R and support MSA for CMM processes.
• Perform inspection of spur, helical, and bevel gears.
• Verify dimensional, geometrical, surface, and hardness requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers on gear and machining deviations.
• Support 8D root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Job description

• Develop and optimize CMM programs (QUINDOS / PC-DMIS / CALYPSO / MCOSMOS) for gearbox components.
• Inspect gears, shafts, housings, and assemblies using CMM and precision metrology systems.
• Establish datum schemes and measurement strategies for complex rotational parts.
• Validate results against drawing requirements, GD&T, and master references.
• Conduct GR&R and support MSA for CMM processes.
• Gear Metrology:
• Perform inspection of spur, helical, and bevel gears.
• Measure and analysis:
• Runout and eccentricity
• Tooth thickness and backlash
• Interpret and apply ISO 1328 / AGMA gear standards.
• Verify gear quality using CMM and gear measuring instruments.
• Incoming Quality Inspection:
• Verify dimensional, geometrical, surface, and hardness requirements.
• Review supplier documents: PPAP, MTC, heat treatment & hardness reports.
• Execute sampling inspection as per control plan / AQL.
• Raise NCRs and ensure segregation of non-conforming parts.
• Supplier & Process Quality:
• Coordinate with suppliers on gear and machining deviations.
• Support 8D root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Review supplier CMM reports and PPAP submissions.
• Support continuous improvement in gear manufacturing capability.
• Documentation & Quality Systems
• Maintain CMM reports, inspection records, and traceability.
• Contribute to SPC and MSA activities.

• Inspect incoming gearbox components: gears, shafts, housings, bearings, seals.
• Verify dimensional, geometrical, surface, and hardness requirements.
• Review supplier documents: PPAP, MTC, heat treatment & hardness reports.
• Execute sampling inspection as per control plan / AQL.
• Raise NCRs and ensure segregation of non-conforming parts.
• Supplier & Process Quality:

• Qualification and Education Requirements:

• Experience:

• Understanding of gear manufacturing processes (hobbing, grinding, heat treatment)
• Familiarity with PPAP, MSA, SPC, 8D
