Job summary

• 12–20 years of experience in sales and marketing of power and distribution transformers.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing sales and/or business development.
• BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering; MBA preferred.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Exposure to utilities, EPCs, and government projects.

The company also manufactures power and distribution transformers up to 20 MVA, 33/11 kV, and IDTs up to 17.6 MVA, and delivers EPC solutions for 220 kV and 400 kV substations, with expansion underway for 132 kV and 220 kV transformer manufacturing.

Role Purpose

The GM – Sales & Marketing (Transformer) will lead the overall sales, marketing, and business development strategy for the transformer business, driving sustainable revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term customer relationships across utility, EPC, industrial, and export segments.

Key Responsibilities

1.Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the sales and marketing strategy aligned with organizational growth objectives for the transformer business.
• Develop annual sales plans, budgets, targets, and forecasts and ensure achievement through structured execution.
• Identify and develop new markets, customer segments, and geographies to expand transformer sales.

2.Sales & Business Development

• Lead key account management for utilities, EPC contractors, industrial customers, and government organizations.
• Oversee tendering, bidding, negotiations, and contract finalization to ensure competitive and profitable order inflow.
• Drive pricing strategy, order booking, and revenue growth in coordination with finance and legal teams.
• Build and maintain long-term customer relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

3.Marketing & Brand Development

• Plan and execute marketing initiatives, brand positioning, and promotional strategies for transformer products.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing benchmarks to refine go-to-market strategies.
• Represent the organization at industry exhibitions, conferences, and key customer engagements.

4.Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Projects teams to ensure technical feasibility, delivery commitments, and compliance with customer requirements.
• Ensure smooth handover of secured orders to execution teams and monitor the order lifecycle until completion.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and marketing team, setting KPIs and performance metrics.
• Build a robust sales pipeline with structured MIS, CRM discipline, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, tender norms, and statutory and contractual requirements.
• Support senior management with strategic inputs, MIS reporting, and decision-making support.
• Strong technical and commercial understanding of power and distribution transformers.
• In-depth knowledge of IS / IEC standards, specifications, and transformer applications.
• Proven expertise in utility, EPC, and industrial sales environments.
• Strong capabilities in tendering, negotiations, and contract management.
• Strategic mindset with sound commercial and financial acumen.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to perform in a dynamic, target-driven business environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
• MBA in Marketing / Sales preferred

Experience:

• 12–20 years of experience in sales and marketing of power and distribution transformers
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position, with proven responsibility for leading sales and/or business development functions.
