Job summary

Highway Roop Precision Technologies in Ludhiana, Punjab, is seeking an experienced Production & Operations Manager to plan, organize, and monitor the forging schedule to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.

You will supervise the forging process, optimize workflow, oversee equipment setup and safety, coordinate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives like Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and monitor forging schedule to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Supervise and coordinate the forging process, including material handling, heating, die setting, press operation, and post-forging operations.
  • Coordinate workflow by assigning tasks, preparing schedules, and ensuring smooth shift handovers.
  • Oversee safe operation and setup of forging machinery, coordinate with Maintenance for timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Enforce quality adherence to specifications, investigate defects, and implement corrective actions with Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the production team; conduct on-the-job training on forging processes, equipment operation, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and Lean Manufacturing to optimize processes and reduce waste.

Job description

Production & Operations Management

Achieve Production Targets: Plan, organize, and monitor the forging schedule to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production volume and efficiency targets.

Process Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the forging process, including material handling, heating (e.g., induction heating), die setting, press operation, and post-forging operations.

Workflow Optimization: Manage and adjust the workflow by assigning tasks, preparing schedules, and ensuring smooth transition and handover between shifts.

Equipment Management: Oversee the safe operation and setup of forging machinery (Presses, IBH, rolling , Trimming equipment), coordinate with the Maintenance department for timely repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

Resource Allocation: Monitor and control the consumption of raw materials, Die/ tools, and consumables, ensuring adequate stock is available to support the production schedule.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

Quality Control: Enforce strict adherence to product specifications, quality standards (e.g., ISO/IATF), and production norms.

Defect Resolution: Monitor production output, identify forging defects, investigate root causes of quality issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions in coordination with the Quality and Engineering teams.

Tooling Management: Coordinate with the Die Shop for die maintenance, repair, and new Die development to maximize output and ensure product quality.

Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing principles to optimize processes, improve material yield, and reduce cost and waste.

Safety and Compliance

Safety Enforcement: Champion a safe work environment by enforcing all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA/regulatory requirements.

Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular safety audits, lead workplace hazard assessments (JHA), and ensure all personnel use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Accident Investigation: Promptly investigate any accidents or incidents, implement corrective measures, and maintain safety records.

Talent & Organization Development

Supervision and Coaching: Lead, coach, and motivate the production team (operators, machine setters) to achieve performance and safety goals.

Training: Conduct and coordinate on-the-job training for new and existing employees on forging processes, equipment operation, safety protocols, and quality procedures.

Performance Management: Evaluate employee performance, provide constructive feedback, manage shifts and rosters, and resolve personnel issues or conflicts promptly.
