The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the forging plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. The role includes production planning, quality assurance, maintenance, manpower management, process improvement, customer satisfaction, and achievement of business objectives related to productivity, quality, delivery, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Production & Operations Management: Lead and oversee all forging plant operations including forging, heat treatment, machining, inspection, and dispatch; ensure achievement of production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and delivery schedules; optimize machine utilization, equipment efficiency, and workforce productivity; monitor daily production performance and take corrective actions to eliminate bottlenecks; ensure smooth execution of customer orders as per specifications and delivery commitments.
- Production Planning & Control: Coordinate with Sales, Planning, and Procurement teams for effective production scheduling; develop monthly, weekly, and daily production plans; monitor inventory levels of raw materials, dies, consumables, and finished goods.
- Quality Management: Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements; drive reduction of rejection, rework, and customer complaints; implement quality improvement initiatives and corrective/preventive actions; maintain compliance with ISO 9001, or other applicable standards.
- Maintenance & Asset Management: Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of forging presses, hammers, furnaces, heat treatment equipment, compressors, and utilities; improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime; plan capacity enhancement and modernization projects.
- Cost Control & Productivity Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs; monitor material yield, energy consumption, labor productivity, and operational expenses; improve forge yield and reduce process losses; implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Human Resource Management: Lead, motivate, and develop production, maintenance, quality, and support teams; identify training and skill development needs.
