Job summary

Safex International in India is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight pricing specialist to manage day-to-day pricing for Import and Export shipments. You will obtain competitive rates from lines, NVOCCs, co-loaders and overseas agents, and negotiate terms with carriers.

The role requires strong Excel and pricing-analysis skills, knowledge of FCL/LCL pricing, and the ability to support Sales with fast, competitive quotations and customized pricing solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Ocean Freight FCL & LCL.
• Experience negotiating rates with carriers.
• Experience handling RFQs and tenders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day Ocean Freight pricing for Import and Export shipments.
• Obtain competitive rates from shipping lines, NVOCCs, co-loaders and overseas agents.
• Negotiate ocean freight, surcharges, free time and commercial terms with carriers.
• Maintain and update carrier rate sheets, tariffs and pricing databases.
• Develop competitive pricing for FCL, LCL and special cargo requirements.
• Monitor market movements, carrier rate changes, GRI/PSS and capacity situations.
• Work closely with the Sales team to provide fast and competitive pricing.
• Support sales teams in winning new business and converting quotations into bookings.
• Analyse lost quotations and provide recommendations for improving the hit ratio.
• Develop alternative routing and carrier options when required.
• Support key accounts with customized pricing solutions.

• Strong freight procurement and negotiation skills

• Understanding of port, ICD, CFS, inland transportation and destination charges
• Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade
• Strong Excel and pricing-analysis skills
• Good commercial and analytical understanding
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple pricing requests
• Strong market knowledge and carrier relationships
