Job summary

Eversendai is looking for an experienced Estimation Engineer / Structural Steel Tendering Engineer in Chennai to handle estimation, tendering, costing, and commercial proposals for structural steel fabrication and erection projects.

The role focuses on reviewing tender documents, preparing costs and BOQs, and coordinating with Engineering, Procurement and Production teams to deliver competitive bids while ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in structural steel estimation, tendering, costing or proposals.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Understanding of structural drawings, quantity take-off and steel specifications.
• Analytical, numerical, commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, BOQ, and contractual requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, tender pricing and commercial proposals.
• Perform quantity take-offs from structural, GA and fabrication drawings.
• Estimate steel material, fabrication, welding, consumables, painting, erection and transport costs.
• Evaluate vendor, subcontractor, and service provider quotations.
• Prepare man-hour estimates, productivity and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Projects and Commercial teams.
• Handle client clarifications, tender addendums, pre-bid meetings and commercial negotiations.
• Maintain cost/rate databases and support value engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQ, scope and contractual requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, rate analysis, tender pricing and commercial proposals.
• Perform quantity take-offs from structural, GA and fabrication drawings.
• Estimate steel material, fabrication, welding, consumables, painting, surface treatment, erection and transportation costs.
• Evaluate vendor, subcontractor and service provider quotations.
• Prepare man-hour estimates, productivity and resource requirements.
• Analyse steel sections, plates, connections, welding, blasting, painting, galvanizing and erection methodologies.
• Identify risks, exclusions, assumptions and deviations in tenders.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Projects and Commercial teams.
• Handle client clarifications, tender addendums, pre-bid meetings and commercial negotiations.
• Maintain cost/rate databases and support value engineering and cost optimisation.
