Job summary

JobItUs is seeking an experienced Electrical Design, Estimation & Tendering Engineer to independently handle design, costing, estimation and tendering for Electrical EPC projects in India. The role covers technical study, quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, and final tender submissions, with a focus on techno-commercial offers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Study NITs, RFQs, tender documents, BOQs, specifications and drawings.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates for Electrical EPC tenders.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experiencedElectrical Design, Estimation & Tendering Engineercapable of independently handling thedesign, costing, estimation and tendering of Electrical EPC projects.

The candidate should be capable of taking a tender from the initial enquiry/NIT stage throughtechnical study quantity take-off design vendor enquiries rate analysis project costing BOQ pricing techno-commercial offer final tender submission.

The position requires a combination of strongelectrical engineering knowledge, estimation skills and commercial understanding.

Key Responsibilities

• StudyNITs, RFQs, tender documents, BOQs, technical specifications, SLDs, layouts and drawings.
• Understand the complete electrical scope of work and identify missing items, discrepancies and interface requirements.
• Carry out detailedquantity take-offsfrom tender drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and verifyBOQs/BOMsfor electrical works.
• Independently prepare detailedcost estimates for Electrical EPC tenders.
• Fill and preparepriced BOQs and price schedulesfor final tender submission.
• Preparematerial and labour rate analysisfor various electrical activities.
• Estimate costs for material, manpower, machinery, tools & tackles, testing & commissioning, transportation, accommodation, site establishment and project overheads.
• Obtain budgetary/firm quotations from vendors and OEMs.
• Preparevendor technical and commercial comparison statements.
• Maintain an updated database of material, equipment and labour rates.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Project teams for current market rates and execution inputs.
• Assist Management in arriving at competitivebid pricing, margins and commercial strategy.
• Prepare completetechno-commercial offers, including scope, exclusions, assumptions and deviations.
• Review tender commercial conditions such as payment terms, retention, LD, BG/PBG, warranty, insurance, taxes and escalation provisions and highlight commercial risks.
• Coordinate documentation required fortender eligibility and qualification.
• Handleonline/e-tender submissionson client, private and government tender portals where applicable.
• Ensure complete and accurate tender submission within stipulated deadlines.
• Maintain tender tracking/MIS coveringEnquiry / Under Estimation / Submitted / Negotiation / Won / Loststatus.

Electrical Design Responsibilities

The candidate should have experience in design/sizing of:

• HT & LT electrical distribution systems
• Transformers
• DG sets
• HT/LT Panels, PCC, MCC, APFC and DBs
• HT/LT power and control cables
• Cable trays and cable routing
• Earthing & lightning protection systems
• Indoor/outdoor lighting systems
• UPS, battery and DC systems
• Electrical infrastructure and associated systems

Should be capable of preparing/reviewing:

• Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
• Load schedules
• Cable schedules
• Equipment sizing
• Cable sizing & voltage-drop calculations
• Transformer/DG sizing
• Short-circuit requirements
• Earthing calculations
• Electrical layouts and equipment layouts

Tendering & Bid Management

The candidate should be capable ofindependently estimating and preparing Electrical Work/EPC tenders for bidding.

Responsibilities shall include tender document review, pre-bid queries, site visits where required, vendor enquiries, costing, BOQ filling, technical submissions, commercial submissions and final bid compilation.

The candidate should also be able to participate inpre-bid meetings, client technical discussions, post-bid clarifications and price negotiations, and prepare revised offers as required.

Project Handover & Cost Control

After award of a project, the engineer shall prepare a properEstimation-to-Execution handovercovering:

• Final estimated BOQ and quantities
• Budgeted material costs
• Budgeted labour/installation costs
• Vendor quotations considered
• Project assumptions and exclusions
• Commercial commitments
• Critical tender conditions

The candidate should also supportEstimated vs Actual Cost Analysisto improve the accuracy and competitiveness of future bids.

Qualification & Experience

Qualification:B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Experience:Preferably3–7 yearsin Electrical EPC / MEP / Power / Industrial / Infrastructure / Solar projects.

Candidates having prior experience in theTendering & Estimation Department of an Electrical EPC contractorwill be strongly preferred.

Software & Technical Skills

Proficiency inAutoCAD and Advanced MS Excelis important. Knowledge ofETAP or similar electrical design/calculation softwarewill be an added advantage.

The candidate should be particularly strong in Excel forBOQ preparation, rate analysis, project costing, vendor comparison and tender pricing.
