Job description

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and analytical Engineer Warehouse to manage and improve end-to-end warehouse and inventory operations. The role will be responsible for inventory accuracy, material movement, warehouse processes, WMS, ERP transactions, stock control, cycle counting, and coordination with Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics teams.

The ideal candidate should have 45 years of experience in the automobile, construction machinery, heavy equipment, or engineering manufacturing industry and strong hands‑on knowledge of WMS, SAP and/or Infor LN, Advanced Excel, Power BI, and AI-enabled tools.


Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Warehouse Management
  • Manage day-to-day warehouse operations covering receiving, inspection coordination, storage, picking, kitting, line feeding, dispatch, and material movement.
  • Ensure smooth and timely material flow from receiving to production/customer dispatch.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, storage locations, material handling, and space utilization.
  • Ensure proper identification, segregation, preservation, and traceability of materials.
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse safety and 5S standards.

2. Inventory Management & Control
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy across raw materials, components, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Monitor physical stock against ERP/WMS inventory.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, stock verification, and physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  • Support inventory optimization and working‑capital improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate stock levels to support uninterrupted production.

3. WMS Management
  • Operate and monitor Warehouse Management System (WMS) for all warehouse transactions.
  • Ensure accurate system transactions for:
  • Goods receipt
  • Put‑away
  • Stock transfer
  • Picking
  • Kitting
  • Line feeding
  • Dispatch
  • Stock adjustments
  • Monitor WMS transaction accuracy and resolve system/process‑related issues.
  • Support WMS process improvements, automation, and implementation projects.
  • Ensure system inventory and physical inventory remain aligned.

4. ERP SAP / Infor LN
  • Perform and monitor warehouse and inventory transactions in SAP and/or Infor LN.
  • Ensure accuracy of material master, storage locations, inventory status, and transaction data.
  • Coordinate with IT/ERP teams to resolve system issues.
  • Support ERP/WMS integration and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate system updates for all material movements.

5. Material Receipt & Storage
  • Coordinate inbound material receiving and documentation.
  • Ensure received materials are correctly identified and routed for inspection where required.
  • Ensure proper put‑away and location management.
  • Monitor pending GRN/receiving transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure materials are stored according to defined handling and preservation requirements.

6. Material Issue, Picking & Line Feeding
  • Ensure timely picking and issue of materials as per production requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production/PPC to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  • Implement efficient line‑side material replenishment and kitting processes.
  • Monitor shortages and ensure timely escalation and resolution.
  • Reduce material handling time and unnecessary movements.

7. Inventory Accuracy & Audit
  • Establish and monitor inventory accuracy KPIs.
  • Conduct cycle counting based on ABC classification and inventory criticality.
  • Analyze root causes of stock discrepancies.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support internal, customer, and statutory inventory audits.

8. Power BI & Data Analytics
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for warehouse and inventory performance.
  • Track and analyze:
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Inventory value
  • Stock aging
  • Warehouse utilization
  • Picking accuracy
  • Material shortages
  • GRN pending
  • Dispatch performance
  • Cycle count accuracy
  • Slow/non‑moving inventory

9. Advanced Excel
  • Use Advanced Excel for warehouse reporting, inventory analysis, reconciliation, and planning.
  • Prepare MIS reports and dashboards using:
  • Pivot Tables
  • XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
  • SUMIFS/COUNTIFS
  • Conditional Formatting
  • Power Query
  • Advanced formulas
  • Charts and dashboards
  • Automate repetitive warehouse reports wherever possible.

10. AI & Digital Warehouse Transformation
  • Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and analytics to improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Explore AI applications for:
  • Inventory forecasting
  • Stock optimization
  • Demand‑based replenishment
  • Inventory discrepancy analysis
  • Warehouse productivity analysis
  • Predictive identification of potential shortages
  • Automated reporting and data analysis
  • Support digitalization initiatives and implementation of smart warehouse solutions.

11. Safety, 5S & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure adherence to warehouse safety procedures and material‑handling standards.
  • Drive 5S, Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material handling, warehouse space, process time, and operational waste.
  • Ensure proper utilization of manpower and material‑handling equipment.

  • Experience in Automobile, Construction Machinery, Heavy Equipment, Commercial Vehicles, or Engineering Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in warehouse and inventory management.
  • Experience with WMS and ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or Infor LN.
  • Strong proficiency in Advanced Excel.
  • Hands‑on experience in Power BI and data visualization.
  • Exposure to AI, automation, predictive analytics, or digital warehouse technologies will be an advantage.
  • Good analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work closely with Production, PPC, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams.
