Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Basic understanding of pressure vessels, piping, welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with inspection procedures and quality documentation is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a manufacturing/inspection environment.
  • Good communication, coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to vendor and customer sites for inspection and project activities.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer Trainee – QC to support quality control, inspection, testing, documentation, and compliance activities across vessel, piping, components, and manufacturing operations.

The role will involve hands‑on exposure to quality inspections, welding and material qualifications, pressure testing, NDT, FAT/SAT, vendor inspections, customer inspections, and quality documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical aptitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control & Inspection
  • Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials, bought-out items, machined components, Filter Housings, Heat Exchangers, vessels, and other manufactured components.
  • Perform dimensional checks, weld inspections, pressure testing, and other relevant stage and final inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards such as ASME and ISO, industry-specific requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Assist in conducting and coordinating NDT activities, including Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT/PT) and Radiographic Testing (RT), for welds and materials.
  • Conduct and support Pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT activities, resolve quality-related issues, and ensure compliance with approved specifications.
  • Perform piping inspections, including review of P&IDs, slopes, welding documentation, and borescope inspections.
  • Coordinate with the project and production teams to meet project deadlines through effective planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agencies for stage and final inspections of coded jobs, including ASME, PED, and other applicable requirements.
2. Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including Material Test Certificates (MTCs), inspection reports, weld maps, and inspection records.
  • Ensure quality documentation complies with regulatory requirements and Vessel QAPs, approved drawings, and project specifications.
  • Support the preparation and validation of Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for vessel manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain accurate technical and process documentation, including SOPs, manuals, policies, guidelines, and inspection/test records.
  • Maintain daily records and reports of inspection and documentation status.
  • Coordinate with the QC team for daily progress updates and provide regular reports to the HOD – QC covering components, vessels, and piping.
3. Process Control & Improvement
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes throughout the various stages of the production cycle.
  • Identify the root causes of defects and non-conformities and support the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Production and Design teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce process variability.
  • Participate in regular process audits to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
  • Support the documentation and implementation of improved processes through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
4. Supplier Quality Management
  • Assist in evaluating and auditing suppliers to ensure the quality of raw materials, components, and outsourced activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure materials and components meet specified requirements.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports covering findings, defects, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate discrepancies and non-conformances to vendors and follow up for timely corrective action.
  • Collaborate with vendors to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct inspections at vendor locations for outsourced manufacturing and other activities.
5. Welding & Material Qualifications
  • Support the preparation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) based on project requirements and applicable codes.
  • Assist in performing and supervising Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) testing for qualification of welding procedures.
  • Maintain and update Welder Qualification Records in accordance with applicable periodicity and requirements.
  • Verify welding consumables against project requirements, approved drawings, and Technical Delivery Conditions (TDC).
6. Testing & Certification
  • Assist in overseeing hydrostatic, pneumatic, and other pressure tests to verify vessel integrity.
  • Ensure products meet applicable certification requirements, including ASME "U" Stamp, CE marking, and other relevant certifications.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors, Authorized Inspectors, and certification bodies as required.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to testing and certification activities.
7. Customer Liaison & Support
  • Support the QC team as a point of contact for quality-related customer requirements and issues.
  • Participate in customer inspections, reviews, and audits and assist in addressing quality concerns.
  • Provide technical support during vessel commissioning, inspection, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure quality issues are addressed effectively to support customer satisfaction.
8. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure manufacturing and inspection activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and support implementation of measures to minimize product quality and safety risks.
  • Follow established safety procedures during inspection, testing, and site activities.
9. Training & Development
  • Participate in and support training programs related to quality standards, inspection techniques, welding, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop technical knowledge of applicable codes, standards, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Promote a strong quality-conscious culture within the organization.
  • Continuously develop skills and knowledge through on-the-job training and guidance from senior QC engineers.

Qualifications
