WorldEmp in Coimbatore seeks a Piping Engineering Team Lead to drive discipline engineering within schedule and budget, ensuring codes and standards are met.

You will oversee site plans, 3D models, stress analysis, and procurement deliverables for piping items, coordinating with vendors and other disciplines to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient plant systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 12+ years relevant experience, 8 of which must be as a Lead design engineer in Oil & Gas.
• Experience in Production Facility Engineering, Onshore, Offshore & FPSO modules, and management of Construction suppliers.
• Strong background in Facilities Engineering and Construction with engineering rigor.
• Familiar with ANSI/ASME/API piping codes and piping stress knowledge.
• Experience with piping layout/design/pipe support/PDMS, E3D.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium to large-size proposal, FEED & detail piping design engineering activities for projects.
• Review ITB documents, issue inquiry requisitions, review vendor offers, and prepare estimates.
• Develop equipment and piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangements meeting project specs and codes.
• Review and approve piping drawings and documentation for compliance.
• Provide guidance in piping design, material selection, and installation methods.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to integrate piping into plant design.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and designers in piping standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of piping components.
• Review 3D models, piping drawings, IDC documents, and vendor drawings.
• Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Job description

Title: Piping Engineering Team Lead

Location: Coimbatore

Objectives

Lead the engineers and designers to complete discipline engineering within the planned schedule and budget, adhering to codes and standards. Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of project execution, including scope, deliverables, schedule, and manpower resources. Maintain responsibility for progress and productivity, identifying required actions as needed. Review and supervise piping engineering deliverables such as site plans, plot plans, 3D models, specifications, pipe wall thickness calculations, valve data sheets, stress analysis reports, and procurement deliverables including enquiry requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, purchase requisitions, and vendor data review for piping items (valves, bulk materials, specialty items, etc.)

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
• Above 12 years relevant work experience, 8 of which must be as a Lead design engineer in Oil and Gas industry.
• Prior work experience in Production Facility Engineering, Onshore, Offshore & FPSO Modules, Management of Construction suppliers, Site Engineering support for Pre-commissioning and Commissioning activities
• Facilities Engineering and Construction, with strong Engineering background.
• Familiar with International standards such as ANSI / ASME /API standard for Piping Stress Knowledge.
• Has sufficient work experience and knowledge in Piping layout / Design/ Pipe support / PDMS, E3D.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead medium to large-size proposal, FEED & Detail Piping design engineering activities for projects
• Review the ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare material and man-hour estimates.
• Develop equipment and piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangements ensuring compliance with project specifications, Piping materials, Codes, and standards.
• Review and approve Statutory approval drawings/documentation for piping systems.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise in piping design, material selection, and installation methods.
• Coordinate with other Engineering disciplines to integrate piping designs into overall plant design.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and designers in piping design principles, Codes, and standards.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of piping components.
• Knowledge on CAD tools such as Aveva E3D, PDMS, CADWorx and AutoCAD for modelling, analysis, and design work.
• Responsible for reviewing 3D models, piping drawings/documents, IDC documents, and vendor drawings.
• Ensure compliance with approved design standards, to provide quality design.
• Coordinate vendor supplied drawings or information into project drawings.
• Review piping bill of material and valve list.
• Ability and willingness to travel, as required to fully fulfil project and business needs.
• Actively support, participate in, and maintain the integrity and on-going function of the company and facility HSSE program; ensuring a safe/healthy work environment.
• As required, provide assistance to sales and contracts for proposals.
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination activities with project stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards for piping design deliverables.
• Recommend cost effective measures and reduce overall cost.
• Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for piping systems.
• Support site activities, inspections, and troubleshooting related to piping installations as needed.
• Performance reviews and feedback of the team members.
