The Draft Engineer – Sales & Proposal Support is responsible for preparing conceptual engineering drawings, plant layouts, bid drawings, and technical presentation materials required for proposal and tender submissions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual plant layouts, equipment drawings, process flow diagrams, and general arrangement (GA) drawings for tender submissions.
- Develop proposal drawings based on customer enquiries, tender specifications, and process design criteria.
- Support sales and proposal teams in preparing technical bid documentation and customer presentations.
- Generate equipment layouts, plot plans, flow sheets, and plant sections for budgetary and firm proposals.
- Modify existing reference drawings to suit customer‑specific requirements and project conditions.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and automation teams to incorporate proposal inputs.
- Prepare technical illustrations, presentation drawings, and graphical content for commercial and technical proposals.
- Maintain standard proposal drawing templates, reference layouts, and proposal databases.
- Support preparation of equipment lists, battery limit drawings, and scope boundary drawings.
- Assist proposal managers in developing technical clarifications and compliance documents.
- Ensure proposal drawings comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable engineering practices.
- Participate in internal proposal review meetings and bid strategy discussions.
- Support customer discussions by preparing plot plans, technical layouts, alternatives, and optimization studies.
- Coordinate with global engineering centers, product groups, and external consultants during proposal development.
- Provide quick‑turnaround drawing support during negotiations, bid revisions, and value‑engineering exercises.
- Develop and maintain a library of standard plant layouts, equipment blocks, and proposal templates.
- Improve proposal drawing quality, standardization, and efficiency through digital tools and automation.
- Maintain records of submitted proposal drawings and lessons learned from awarded projects and lost orders.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–8 years of experience in engineering drafting, proposal engineering, or tender support.
- Experience in Cement, Mining, Material Handling, and Process Plants.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably version 2022).
- Knowledge of plant layout development and equipment arrangement drawings.
- Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs), general arrangement drawings, and conceptual engineering.
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling tools such as Plant 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar software.
- Good understanding of engineering standards, tender documentation, and proposal processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and graphical presentation tools (added advantage).

Preferred Experience
- Experience in the cement industry preparing conceptual layouts for complete cement plants and upgrades.
- Familiarity with crushers, stackers, reclaimers, raw mills, coal mills, kilns, coolers, cement mills, packing plants, utilities, and material handling systems.
- Understanding of Products, EP, EP+ project execution models.
- Experience supporting techno‑commercial proposals and tender submissions for cement industry customers.
