Job summary

Primetals Technologies India in Kolkata seeks an experienced engineer for basic and detail engineering of gas cleaning and de-dusting equipment for integrated steel plants. You will handle 2D drawings, 3D modelling, and manufacturing BOMs, with focus on compliance to project requirements.

Ideal candidate has 8–17 years in steel plant equipment engineering, hands-on NX/Solid Edge/Inventor, and knowledge of IS/ASME/ASTM/ISO/DIN standards; site experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8–17 years in basic and detail engineering of steel plant equipment.
• Hands-on in 2D drawing and 3D modelling.
• Experience with erection and commissioning is desirable.
• Knowledge of IS/ASME/ASTM/ISO/DIN standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare basic engineering of gas cleaning and de-dusting equipment.
• Perform mechanical calculations and 3D models.
• Create manufacturing drawings and bill of materials.
• Prepare manuals and procurement/inspection docs.

Job description

• Preparation of basic engineering of Gas Cleaning and De-Dusting mechanical equipment for Integrated Steel plant based on contractual requirements and available references. (e.g., Suction hood, Uncooled Duct, Cooling Stack, Water Cooled Duct, Evaporation cooler, Quenching Tower, Droplet Separator, Gas Cooler, Silencer, Clean Gas Stack, Flare Stack, Bag Filter, ESP, Forced Draft Cooler etc.)


• Doing necessary mechanical calculations and preparation of models in 3D.


• Preparation of detail manufacturing drawings and bill of material


• Preparation of manuals and the engineering documents related to procurement, manufacturing, and inspection.


• Owning the assigned equipment throughout its life cycle and if necessary, making modifications time to time as per latest COC reference or project requirements


• Creating, maintaining, and storing drawings and documents in SAP related to the equipment and projects according to the engineering processes and guidelines.


• Ensuring adherence to engineering standards.


• Ensuring adherence to contract specifications and requirements.


• Guiding a team of designers and checking drawings and documents prepared by them.


• Responsible for completing the assignments within project time schedule and budget.


• Visit Manufacturer shop / site and customer / consultant office as per project requirement

Work Experience

Technical Skill and Knowledge

Hands on experience of preparation of mechanical drawings and bill of material based on references, 3D modelling preferably in NX, Solid Edge and/or Inventor, basic mechanical calculation & FEA analysis skills, Knowledge of Indian and International standards (IS / ASME / ASTM / ISO / DIN/DIN EN etc.),

Soft Skills

Reasonably good in communication and written / spoken English

Experience

8 – 17 years in Basic and Detail engineering of Steel plant equipment, preferably Blast Furnace, BOF, Sinter Plant, EAF gas cleaning & de-dusting equipment. Hands on experience in 2D drawing preparation and 3D modelling. Related site experience of erection and commissioning is desirable. Working experience in project environment with awareness of contract and timeliness.
