  • Automotive/precision manufacturing exposure.

Job description

Job Purpose: Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Pune manufacturing plant, with overall accountability for manufacturing performance, operational excellence, cost competitiveness, quality, delivery, productivity, and plant profitability.

Lead and drive the plants manufacturing strategy in alignment with the organisations business objectives and Annual Operating Plan (AOP), ensuring achievement of production, OEE, capacity utilisation, cost, EBITDA, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction targets. Oversee and integrate Production, PPC, Supply Chain, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering and related plant operations to ensure seamless and efficient manufacturing performance.

Drive a culture of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, TPM, operational excellence and digital manufacturing, with a strong focus on productivity enhancement, waste elimination, process capability, capacity optimisation and cost reduction. Ensure robust adherence to automotive quality standards, customer-specific requirements, statutory and regulatory requirements, and EHS standards.

Key Accountabilities
Operational Strategic Management
  • Develop and implement production strategies /plan for unit, that align with the companys overall objectives.
  • Develop and manage the operations budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions to achieve financial targets for the operations.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective customer service and support.
  • Address customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance the customer experience.
  • Identify and manage risks to the operations.
  • Drive customers audit to fulfil their requirements.
Manufacturing / Production
  • Execute Production Plan and achieve monthly sales revenue within the defined cost targets for fixed and variable cost (AOP)
  • Lead Plants operation within Companys Policies and Procedures.
  • Review Plant Production Goals, KPI of cost, quality delivery, PQDCHSE
  • Plan, validate along with the Industrialization, the annual capacity (Man/machine/material) and implement the same.
  • Review Plant capacity (short term and long term) in line with business projection (man, machine, material) and implement the same.
  • Drive culture of continuous improvement with lean manufacturing practices(SMED/6S/Kaizen/Kanban/TPM /Visual Management etc)
  • Participate in annual budget exercise and monitor actual monthly budget. Optimize cost and bring in cost consciousness.
  • Facilitate CAPA for variance analysis, customer feedback.
  • Ensure OEE is gradually improving.
  • Trouble shoot review and support to ensure timely customer delivery.
  • Develop policies and practices to enhance the productivity of workforce.
Maintenance
  • Ensure compliance of TPM practices (Autonomous Maintenance)
  • Ensure Spares management system for plant machinery to eliminate risk of production stoppages
  • Zero DI Failures for all customers.
  • Review Monthly PM schedule compliance and PM effectiveness.
SCM & Planning
  • To ensure targets for inventory value/ Inventory (DOH) /Inventory turns are met in line with monthly sales plan.
  • Facilitate and review with the SCM / PPC team to set a robust planning and scheduling process.
  • Review short term and long-term forecast for smooth supply of material from suppliers
  • Assess supplier capacity risks in line with business growth.
  • Ensure logistic cost with budget and minimum premium freight as per budget.
Process Engineering
  • Ensure safe launch of new products in line with business growth.
  • Ensure Process capability targets are met for new equipment.
  • Ensure process improvements for cost reduction/ efficiency improvements/quality improvements etc.
Tooling
  • Ensure tooling spares management in line with budget.
  • Ensure tooling maintenance to eliminate production stoppage risk.
  • Ensure compliance of asset management (Customer paid tooling) as well as Owned tools.
  • Ensure duplicate tooling kick off on time based on the tool life monitoring.
Contingency Plan
  • Risk Identification in Stamping, Laser Cutting, Chamfering operations.
  • Preparedness & Prevention for machinery breakdown, avoid dependency on single supplier, critical stocking of safety of raw material, transit arrangement for dispatches.
  • Emergency Response – crisis communication plan, hazards management, fire, accident, theft etc.
  • Recovery & Restoration – of shut down processes, brining normalcy.
Operation Team Management
  • Leadership & Direction for capability building.
  • Provide clear vision and objectives aligned with organizational goals by way of defining roles, responsibilities, KRAs & KPIs.
  • Motivate and inspire teams through recognition, feedback, and coaching.
  • Ensure discipline, ethical practices, and a positive work culture.
  • Promote teamwork on problem-solving, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.
Team Structuring
  • Build a well-balanced team across Production (Molding & Assembly, Metal Preparation, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Dispatch.
  • Implement succession planning for critical positions.
  • Set measurable targets (productivity, OEE, yield, scrap reduction, cost efficiency).
IMS/ QMS Implementation
  • Implement the standards requirement in processes, procedures, as applicable, under - IATF -16949, ISO 14001 & ISO – 45001.
  • Maintain standardization in the documents, forms and formats to ensure uniformity.
  • Participate in internal periodic system audits, work on audit observations and scope for improvements.
  • Prepare documents, MIS for management review meetings and ensure compliance.
  • Take corrective action for all NCs in specified timelines, if any.
  • Follow SOPs, Quality Manuals and Policies applicable.
Health Safety and Environment
  • Report unsafe conditions promptly to the Safety Officer.
  • Avoid unsafe acts or shortcuts that risk operations or life.
  • Actively engage in safety workshops, trainings, mock drills, and audits to strengthen the safety culture.
  • Follow the Safety Policy.
Functional Competencies
  • Rubber molding expertise: recipe formulation, molding, extrusion, metal preparation.
  • Proficient in core quality tools: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
  • Implementation of lean manufacturing tools.
  • Skilled in AIAG-VDA FMEA.
  • Auditing skills: CQI-9, 11, 12, 15, 23 (special processes).
  • Knowledge of basic & advanced quality tools.
  • GD&T expertise.
  • Handling special instruments & equipment: FARO, weld penetration tools.
  • Knowledge of standards: IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
