Objectives
To lead the Engineering Section by providing comprehensive engineering support to day-to-day production operations and driving new product development (NPD) initiatives. The role serves as a Subject Matter Expert with vendors and customers, ensuring technical excellence, process reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Principal duties
Engineering & Production Support
- Provide technical expertise and engineering solutions to ensure smooth production operations.
- Troubleshoot engineering issues in CNC machining, collet systems, and fixture applications.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve design or process-related challenges.
- Optimize processes for efficiency, precision, and reduced downtime.
New Product Development (NPD)
- Lead engineering activities for new product introduction, including design feasibility, prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Participate in APQP, PPAP, and customer requirement reviews.
- Liaise with vendors and customers to ensure alignment of technical requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering documentation, drawings, and technical specifications.
Vendor & Customer SME Role
- Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert for technical discussions with vendors and customers.
- Support vendor development, process validation, and quality approvals.
- Provide technical feedback and solutions for customer queries, audits, and approvals.
Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
- Identify opportunities for tooling/fixture cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Standardized processes and engineering practices across the section.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) for engineering processes and fixtures.
- Implement safe work practices in collaboration with the Safety Officer.
- Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
- Foster a zero-incident safety culture within the engineering team.
Information Security Responsibilities
- Comply with the organizations Information Security Management System (ISMS) and TISAX standards.
- Ensure data security and confidentiality in all engineering designs, drawings, and vendor/customer communications.
- Restrict and monitor access to sensitive technical data, ensuring adherence to IT and data control policies.
- Train team members on information security awareness.
- Report any suspected data breaches or non-compliance immediately to ISMS Coordinator.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the section.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.
- Conduct regular reviews, coaching, and skill-gap assessments.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning culture.
- Ensure team adherence to company policies, HSE, and information security protocols.
Authorities
- Approve engineering solutions, design modifications, and process improvements.
- Authorize technical communications and clarifications with vendors/customers within approved scope.
- Recommend and approve tooling, collet fixtures, and engineering resource requirements within budget limits.
- Allocate manpower, engineering resources, and task priorities for daily support and NPD activities.
- Approve performance targets, skill development plans, and training needs for the engineering team.
- Evaluate team performance, recommend promotions, role changes, or disciplinary actions.
- Authorize stoppage of work in case of unsafe conditions, equipment malfunction, or HSE non-compliance.
- Approve corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to HSE audit findings.
- Approve access rights for engineering-related data, drawings, and process documentation based on need-to-know.
- Authorize communication and sharing of technical information with vendors/customers in compliance with ISMS protocols.

- 712 years of experience in automotive/manufacturing engineering, including 5+ years in a supervisory or in-charge role.
Areas Handled (Technical Skills Required)
- Proficiency in product design feasibility studies, prototyping, and validation.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/ PFMEA, and control plan preparation.
- Ability to work on engineering change management and product modifications.
- Knowledge of IATF 16049
- Knowledge of Autocad
