Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) is seeking an experienced trims design engineer in Chennai to lead CAD design for interior and exterior components, including IP, consoles, doors, and soft trims. Proficiency in CATIA V5 and 3DX, with strong interface skills for stakeholders and suppliers, is required.

The role demands hands-on modelling of complex surfaces, immersion in plastic part design, and a clear understanding of injection molding and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• CAD design of Interior Components of IP, Console/Door Trims/Cabin Trims/ Exterior Trims & Soft Trims.
• Hands-on CATIA and 3DX work; complex surface modelling.
• Ensure plastic part design feasibility with tooling and master sections.
• Address design issues with analytical/problem-solving approaches.
• Apply knowledge of BIW, trims, exterior/soft trims and chassis systems to design tasks.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Candidate should have min 4+ Years of experience in Automotive Interior / Exterior trims design.
• Be responsible for the CAD design of Interior Components Of IP, Console/Door Trims/Cabin Trims/ Exterior Trims & Soft Trims
• Good knowledge on plastic part design & tooling feasibility with Tool direction definition parting line & slider/ Lifter construction and master sections & Packing study.
• Hands on experience in CATIA,3DX, Exposure on complex Surface 3D Modelling
• Strong background knowledge in injection molding & plastic manufacturing process.
• Ability to resolve design issues with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
• Knowledge of Automotive trim product design and development cycles and its milestones/gateways & Timelines
• Extensive experience in design and development of 1. BIW 2. Trims 3. Exterior Trims 4. Soft Trims 5. Chassis systems.
• Strong knowledge of automotive standards, safety requirements and regulations.
• Minimum 5 years experience in New Part Development.
• Strong communication skill is mandatory to handle Program Stake Holders & Suppliers.
• Exceptional CATIA V5 Skills.
• Good Knowledge in Teamcenter Engineering & Vismockup.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
