Job summary

Quest Global is seeking an experienced subsystem design engineer for locomotive applications. The role focuses on subsystems development, design validation, and collaboration with global teams to deliver high-quality components.

The candidate should have deep expertise in Loco subsystems, FEA, and manufacturing drawings, with strong GD&T and industry standard knowledge. This senior role involves NPI projects and customer-facing activities.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of design & development experience in locomotive/heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• Own CTQ delivery, schedules and quality for all teams across units.
• Lead design verification, FEA, and hand calculations.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings (Sheet metal, Castings, Forgings, Welding) with GD&T.
• Support NPIs, fixture design, and component validation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers across geographies.
• Analyze shop floor issues and provide practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical skills:

• Should have in-depth knowledge of Loco – Including strong knowledge of systems and sub systems
• Cabs design specific to handle, Sealing, RAMS, Environmental Safety regulations
• Should have experience handling Sealing design
• Should have experience of handling sub systems like Main Cab, Aux Cab, Blower Cab, Engine Cab, Rad Cab.
• Should have experience of design, verification, FEA, hand calculations, PPAP
• 12-15 years of experience in subsystems / component Design & Development of Locomotive / automobile / heavy industries
• Should have strong proven experience in handling customers across multiple geographies and meeting resp customers processes and standards
• Will be owning key CTQ like delivery, schedules, quality for all teams within multiple business units
• Experience on NPI projects, Fixture design development, structural calculations, bolted joint, weld joint calculations
• Analyzing shop issues and providing solutions
• Should have worked on concept generation using idea generation methods
• Have good knowledge on new component introduction process, FMEA and validation process of components
• Should be very good at GD&T, Tolerance stack-up, DFA/DFM/DFS
• Knowledge to Interpret FEA Analysis reports
• Strong knowledge in Industry Codes and Engineering standards like ASME, ISO & European specific standards
• Should have minimum 8+ years of experience as checker / Reviewer / SME
• Should have worked with cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field service and external consulting engineering teams
• Should be able to generate Manufacturing drawings of various kinds (Sheetmetal, Castings, Forgings, Welding) with application of GD&T as applicable
• Present in meetings which will be scheduled with functional managers / CFT or toll gate reviews
• Shop floor experience in Sheetmetal, Casting, Forging, Metal joining techniques (Bolting, Welding, Riveting), plastics
• Should have worked with cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field service and external consulting engineering teams.
• To focus on value additions and cost savings beyond the expected tasks by customer like Poke-Yoke Methods
• Experience in in multi-CAD tools like Nx / Catia / Solid works / Creo
