Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a seasoned Engineer to anchor locomotive subsystems design and development across multiple geographies. You will own CTQ metrics like delivery, schedules, and quality, and guide cross-functional teams in concept generation, FMEA, GD&T, and stress analysis.

With 15-20 years in rail or related heavy industries, you will mentor peers, review subsystem drawings, and drive NPI initiatives, ensuring compliance with ASME/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• In-depth locomotive knowledge including systems and subsystems.
• Experience handling subsystems like Main Cab, Aux Cab, Blower Cab, Engine Cab and Rad Cab.
• Experience in design, verification, FEA, hand calculations and PPAP.
• 8-15 years in subsystems/component design and development in locomotives/heavy industries.
• Proven experience handling customers across geographies and adhering to processes.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and DFMA/DFX.
• Knowledge to interpret FEA reports and apply ASME/ISO/European standards.
• Experience as checker/reviewer/SME and cross-functional team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own CTQ metrics like delivery, schedules, and quality for teams across units.
• Lead NPI projects, fixture design, structural calculations, bolt/weld joint calculations.
• Mentor and coordinate Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Field service.

• Should have in-depth knowledge of Locomotive – Including strong knowledge of systems and sub systems
• Should have experience of handling sub systems like Main Cab, Aux Cab, Blower Cab, Engine Cab, Rad Cab., platform and other sub-systems
• Should have experience of design, verification, FEA, hand calculations, PPAP
• 8-15 years of experience in subsystems / component Design & Development of Locomotive / automobile / heavy industries
• Should have strong proven experience in handling customers across multiple geographies and meeting resp customers processes and standards
• Will be owning key CTQ like delivery, schedules, quality for all teams within multiple business units
• Experience on NPI projects, Fixture design development, structural calculations, bolted joint, weld joint calculations
• Analyzing shop issues and providing solutions
• Should have worked on concept generation using idea generation methods
• Have good knowledge on new component introduction process, FMEA and validation process of components
• Should be very good at GD&T, Tolerance stack-up, DFA/DFM/DFS
• Knowledge to Interpret FEA Analysis reports
• Strong knowledge in Industry Codes and Engineering standards like ASME, ISO & European specific standards
• Should have minimum 8+ years of experience as checker / Reviewer / SME
• Should have worked with cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field service and external consulting engineering teams
• Should be able to generate Manufacturing drawings of various kinds (Sheetmetal, Castings, Forgings, Welding) with application of GD&T as applicable
• Present in meetings which will be scheduled with functional managers / CFT or toll gate reviews
• Shop floor experience in Sheetmetal, Casting, Forging, Metal joining techniques (Bolting, Welding, Riveting), plastics
• Should have worked with cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field service and external consulting engineering teams.
• To focus on value additions and cost savings beyond the expected tasks by customer like Poke-Yoke Methods
• Experience in in multi-CAD tools like Nx / Catia / Solidworks / Creo
