Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer with 6–8 years of hands-on experience across product development and manufacturing. The role involves driving concept generation through detailed engineering, applying diverse manufacturing methodologies, and producing robust 3D and 2D designs using Siemens NX (UG NX).

You will work with PLM systems to manage product data, revisions, and release processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design activities from concept to detailed engineering and release for manufacturing.
• Create and validate 3D CAD models, assemblies and 2D drawings using Siemens NX; ensure GD&T and engineering standards.
• Apply manufacturing methodologies (machining, casting, sheet metal, molding, welding, additive) for DFMA.
• Generate BOMs and specifications; coordinate with procurement to source components.
• Manage product data and ECOs/ECRs in PLM; maintain revision control and release workflows.
• Interface with R&D, manufacturing, QA, supply chain and vendors to resolve issues and support production.
• Coordinate with CAE/FEA for validation and prototype testing.
• Drive cost reduction and manufacturability improvements; shorten development cycles.
• Prepare technical documentation and assembly instructions; support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

The ideal candidate will drive concept generation through detailed engineering, apply diverse manufacturing methodologies, and produce robust 3D and 2D designs using Siemens NX (UG NX). Experience working with PLM systems and cross-functional teams to manage product data, revisions, and release processes is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design activities from concept generation and feasibility studies to detailed engineering and release for manufacturing.
• Create and validate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using Siemens NX (UG NX); ensure models meet GD&T and engineering standards.
• Select and apply appropriate manufacturing methodologies (machining, casting, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, additive manufacturing), and ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).
• Generate BOMs, part specifications, and tolerance stacks; coordinate with procurement and vendors to source components and processes.
• Manage product data and engineering change processes using PLM tools (part creation, ECOs/ECRs, revision control, release workflows).
• Interface with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, QA, supply chain, and vendors) to resolve design-for-manufacture issues and support production launches.
• Perform FEA validation (or coordinate with CAE), prototype development support, design verification & testing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve manufacturability and shorten product development cycles.
• Prepare technical documentation, assembly instructions and support manufacturing troubleshooting and perform root-cause analysis when required.
