Job Summary
We are seeking a Conceptual Design Engineer (R&D) with 2- 6 years of experience in Mechanical Product / Sub System Design and Development.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing new products, with a strong focus on castings, sheet metal components, gears, gearboxes, shafts, drive systems and engineering calculations. The candidate should possess hands‑on experience in Siemens NX (Mandatory) and be capable of driving product development from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Concept Design:
- Own module/subsystem definition aligned with overall machine architecture and functional requirements.
- Generate and evaluate multiple design concepts considering performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Develop concepts for mechanical systems including gears, gearboxes, shafts, drive systems.
- Perform preliminary engineering calculations (power, torque, load estimations) to validate feasibility.
- Select suitable materials and mechanisms based on application requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, sourcing) during concept evaluation.
- Participate in design reviews to finalize optimal concepts.
2. Detailed Design
- Develop detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs.
- Design casting and sheet metal components with focus on manufacturability and cost optimization.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations including static and dynamic load analysis.
- Apply GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack‑up analysis for assemblies.
- Ensure proper subsystem integration within the overall machine architecture.
- Drive design reviews and incorporate feedback from cross‑functional teams.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, and documentation.
- Support value engineering and continuous design improvements.
3. Prototyping & Testing
- Support prototype development, assembly, and initial build validation.
- Conduct design validation, functional testing, and reliability studies.
- Analyze test results and refine designs to meet performance requirements.
- Perform failure analysis and root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) for design issues.
- Drive corrective actions and design improvements based on validation outcomes.
- Support production ramp‑up and resolve engineering issues during manufacturing.
- Contribute to lifecycle management including upgrades, modifications, and field issue resolution.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
