Job summary

Independent Recruitment Consultant (freelancer) is seeking a seasoned mechanical design engineer to lead design and development of mechanical products. You will create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Creo, AutoCAD, and Inventor, review BOMs and specifications, perform calculations, and guide junior engineers.

You will coordinate with production, quality, and purchasing to resolve issues and support new product development.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Creo, AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, materials, tolerances and engineering standards.
• Experience in engineering calculations and design validation.
• Knowledge of FEA/CAE is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of DFM/ DFA and product development.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and team-management skills.
• Ability to independently handle design projects.
• Preferred: Experience in DTH hammers, drilling equipment, mining equipment or related mechanical products will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical products and components.
• Create and review 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Creo / AutoCAD / Inventor.
• Prepare and review BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations, design validation, and design optimization.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Handle design changes, ECNs/ECRs, and drawing revisions.
• Guide junior design engineers and review their design work.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, and other departments to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
• Support new product development, prototype development, and product improvement.
• Ensure designs meet GD&T, company standards, customer requirements, and manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and other technical documents.
• Identify design-related problems and provide effective and cost-efficient solutions.
• Monitor assigned projects and ensure completion within the required timeline.
