Job summary

Sunbeam Generators in Puducherry, India, seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to manage complete design projects from concept to final documentation. You will develop detailed 3D models and layouts in SolidWorks, and prepare accurate 2D manufacturing drawings.

Qualifications

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Independently manage complete design projects from concept development to final engineering documentation.
• Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and layouts using SolidWorks.
• Prepare accurate 2D manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and detail drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations related to equipment and mechanical components and ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements.
• Select appropriate mechanical components, materials, and standard parts based on application and design requirements.
• Design and develop components, sub-assemblies, and complete equipment systems for construction/heavy machinery.
• Review existing designs and identify opportunities for design improvement, cost optimization, manufacturability, and performance enhancement.
• Work closely with manufacturing, fabrication, procurement, quality, and project teams to resolve technical and design-related issues.
• Ensure proper GD&T, tolerances, material specifications, BOMs, and engineering documentation are incorporated into drawings and design outputs.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable ISO standards, engineering practices, and company design procedures.
• Working experience in design data management systems like ERP/SAP and PLM/Vault.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, and incorporation of engineering changes.
• Investigate design-related problems and provide effective engineering solutions.
• Maintain design records, revision control, drawings, BOMs, and other technical documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers/designers as required.
• Be willing to travel to customer/project sites as required.
• Perform any other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned by the management from time to time.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience: 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in concrete equipment, construction equipment, heavy machinery, or related industries.
• Preferred Industry: Concrete Pumps, Batching Plants, Transit Mixers, RMC Plants, Construction Equipment, Heavy Equipment, or similar machinery.
• Qualification: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Desired Experience: Experience in independently handling complete design projects from concept development to detailed engineering and final documentation. Strong hands-on experience in 3D modelling, 2D drafting, assembly and preparation of manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
