Job summary

Independent Recruitment Consultant (freelancer) is seeking a seasoned mechanical design engineer in Hyderabad, India. The role focuses on leading design activities, creating precise CAD models and drawings, and ensuring conformance to GD&T and customer specs.

You will oversee BOMs, specifications, and documentation while guiding junior engineers and coordinating cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues throughout manufacturing and testing stages.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Creo, AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, materials, tolerances and engineering standards.
• Experience in engineering calculations and design validation.
• Knowledge of FEA/CAE is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of DFM/ DFA and product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical products and components.
• Create and review 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Creo / AutoCAD / Inventor.
• Prepare and review BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations, design validation, and design optimization.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Handle design changes, ECNs/ECRs, and drawing revisions.
• Guide junior design engineers and review their design work.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, and other departments to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
• Support new product development, prototype development, and product improvement.
• Ensure designs meet GD&T, company standards, customer requirements, and manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and other technical documents.
• Identify design-related problems and provide effective and cost-efficient solutions.
• Monitor assigned projects and ensure completion within the required timeline.
