Hybrid role based in Bengaluru, with on-site presence required for key engagements and some remote work based on business needs. 5+ years in database engineering and strong SQL skills are essential.

Job Summary

The Database Platforms team at The Standard India is responsible for planning, building, and running the database service to enable secure and reliable centralized repositories for structured data. Our vision is to empower the Enterprise through secure, reliable, and modern database platforms – accelerating cloud migration to enable critical business applications, automation, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain relational and non‑relational databases to support business applications and reporting platforms.
• Create and manage database objects (tables, indexes, views, procedures, packages), ensuring data integrity and security.
• Monitor and optimize database performance using tools and SQL tuning utilities.
• Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Automate database provisioning and management using scripting and Infrastructure as Code tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Collaborate with application developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to integrate database solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and incidents.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements by managing user access, roles, and audit logs.
• Document database platforms processes, procedures, and best practices.
• Automation and process improvements.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies and trends.
• Work on site in Bengaluru, India.

Mode of Working

This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on‑site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, IT or related technical education is required.

Experience:

• 5 years of experience with the following is required.
• T‑shaped skills with non‑relational database in Azure such as MongoDB, CosmosDB; core foundational engineering skillsets along with experience on other relational databases like MS SQL.
• Experience with cloud‑native deployments and integrations (MongoDB Atlas).
• Proficiency in MongoDB Query Language (MQL) for CRUD operations, aggregation, and advanced querying.
• Integration with application development teams and CI/CD pipelines.
• Creating effective indexes in NoSQL databases for query performance.
• Security and RBAC.
• NoSQL concepts like documents, collections, BSON, schema flexibility.
• Proficiency in installing, configuring, and upgrading MongoDB clusters, including replica sets and sharded clusters.
• Scripting/programming languages like Python, Ansible, Terraform for infrastructure as code and automation.
• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio.
• Deep proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
• Knowledge of MS SQL databases (on‑prem and cloud).
• Experience deploying and administering databases on Azure.
• Knowledge of Azure’s SQL offering.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Database observability tools like Redgate, Datadog.
• Knowledge of Azure’s SQL and Oracle offering.
• MongoDB certifications.
• Certifications in Oracle Database Administration (OCP, OCI) or cloud platforms.
• AZ‑900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (or equivalent).
