Job summary

Ericsson Noida data center is seeking a Data Center Engineer to manage, deploy and maintain the physical infrastructure in the data center. You will handle rack installation, cable laying, device mounting and ensure incidents are resolved within SLA.

This hands-on role requires Cisco, Ciena, Juniper and Arista device experience and HPE servers knowledge. You will coordinate with customers and OEM vendors, participate in asset management, audits, and support META projects.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years hands-on data centre experience.
• Technical degree in IT/computer science.
• Experience with Cisco, Ciena, Juniper and Arista devices.
• Experience in data center build activities (rack install, device mounting, cabling).
• Solid knowledge of HPE servers and components.
• Hands-on hardware replacement and troubleshooting in physical infra.
• Experience with optical, copper and fibre cabling and fibre standards.
• Experience using ticketing systems and ITSM lifecycle processes.

Responsibilities

• Work on tickets to fix incidents in the data center; on-site visits required.
• Provide timely updates with work logs in the ticketing tool.
• Meet all SLAs with customers.
• Escalate abnormal data center situations to the central project team.
• Manage assets onsite and report on them.
• Conduct site audits per official guidelines.
• Manage site spare inventory and reporting.
• Provide remote support to on-site engineers; assist META projects.

About this opportunity:

The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the management, maintenance, and deployment of the physical infrastructure within the data center. This role involves both building and operational support activities to ensure optimal data center performance and reliability.

The engineer will be actively involved in activities such as rack installation, cable laying, network device installation, cable dressing, and material handling. In addition, the role includes troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues, coordinating with customers and OEM vendors, and ensuring all incidents are resolved within defined SLA timelines.

What you will do:

• Work on tickets assigned to fix incidents in the data center on-site visit is required


• Timely updates with accurate work logs to be updated in ticketing tool.


• Meet all agreed SLA’s with the Customer.


• Immediately elevate to the central project team any abnormal situation in the data center concerning Ericsson equipment at site.


• Asset Management onsite at the data center and reporting


• Site audit conducted as per the official guidelines


• Site spare inventory management and reporting


• Remote support to the onsite engineer to solve the issue


• Support other projects within META program.

The skills you bring:

• Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of hardware within data center environments.


• Strong hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of Cisco, Ciena, Juniper, and Arista network devices and technologies.


• Extensive experience in data center build activities, including rack installation, device mounting, cable laying, labelling, and dressing.


• Solid technical knowledge and experience with HPE servers and their components, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.


• Practical hands-on experience in hardware parts replacement and troubleshooting of physical infrastructure components.


• Strong expertise in optical, copper, and fibre cabling systems, including fibre standards, connector types, and cable management practices.


• Experience working with ticketing systems and managing incidents, service requests, and change activities through established processes.


• Sound understanding of the IT Service Management (ITSM) lifecycle, including ticket handling, SLA adherence, escalation management, and stakeholder communication.

Education and Experience :

• Technical degree, preferably in IT/computer science domain.


• 2-5 years of hands on experience working in a data centre environment.
