Job summary

Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd. in Kochi (Kochi, India) seeks a Crewing Operator to manage crew changes, ensuring training and qualifications meet company, STCW and flag-state standards.

The role requires coordinating with Crewing Fleet Manager, supporting the maritime HR department, and maintaining the company’s management system to improve processes and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Two years of working experience onboard a ship or ashore in a shipping/ship management company.
• Good command of the English language.
• Computer knowledge.
• Organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct crew changes in compliance with Seafarers’ Employment Agreement and Crewing Superintendent.
• Verify that all Seafarers are trained and qualified per Company, STCW and Flag State requirements.
• Inform Crew Wages Department about changes of employment status (signing on/off).
• Inform relevant parties of medical cases/accidents and follow up.
• Arrange Cash to Master as required.
• Verify and approve Travelling Expenses for payment.
• Perform other special tasks as assigned.
• Be conversant with and implement the Company’s Management System.
• Contribute to development/amendment of procedures.
• Promote continual improvement efforts.

Job description

We are seeking to recruit a Crewing Operator in Kochi, India.

Job Description

The Crewing Operator shall have the following qualifications:

• A minimum of two 2 years working experience onboard a ship or ashore in a shipping/ ship management company;
• Good command of the English language;
• Computer knowledge;
• Organizational skills.

The Crewing Operator is responsible for:

• Conducting crew changes in compliance with the Seafarers’ Employment Agreement and as agreed with the Crewing Superintendent;
• Verifying that all Seafarers are trained and qualified in full compliance with Company’s, STCW and Flag State requirements;
• Informing Crew Wages Department on any changes of the employment status, i.e. signing on and off of seafarers;
• Informing relevant parties of any medical cases/accidents and follow up of these cases;
• Arranging for Cash to Master;
• Verifying and approve for payment of Travelling Expenses upon request;
• Performing any other special tasks as may be assigned;
• Being adequately conversant with the Company’s Management System;
• Implementing effectively the Company’s Management System;
• Contributing to the development of new or the amendment of existing procedures;
• Promoting and supporting efforts for continual improvement.

The Crewing Operator reports to and is accountable to the Crewing Fleet Manager.

The Crewing Operators shall work closely together and communicate effectively with each other. They shall back each other up thus contributing to the smooth operation of the Maritime HR Department during their absence.
