Job summary

COLUMBIA Shipmanagement Ltd. Mumbai is seeking a Crewing Operator (Offshore) to manage crew changes on offshore vessels and ensure compliance with Seafarers’ Employment Agreements and company procedures.

The role demands strong English, robust communication and a background in STCW and maritime recruitment; experience with AHTS, CSOV or cable layers is an advantage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of core offshore vessel experience.
• Cable layers, AHTS or CSOV experience is an advantage.
• Seagoing officer experience or a university degree with recruitment industry experience (2+ years) is advantageous.
• Good command of English and strong interpersonal skills.
• Good controlling and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct crew changes for offshore vessels in compliance with Seafarers’ Employment Agreement and as directed by the Crewing Superintendent.
• Verify that all Seafarers are trained and qualified in full compliance with Company’s STCW and Flag State requirements.
• Inform the Crew Wages Department of changes in employment status (signing on/off).
• Inform relevant parties of medical cases/accidents and follow up.
• Arrange for Cash to Master.
• Verify and approve payment of Travelling Expenses, upon request.
• Perform any other special tasks as assigned.
• Be conversant with the Company’s Management System.
• Implement the Company’s Management System effectively.
• Contribute to development or amendment of procedures.
• Promote and support continual improvement.

Job description

The Crewing Operator (Offshore) shall have the following qualifications:

• 5+ years of core experience working with offshore vessels
• Handling cable layers, AHTS and CSOV will be considered an advantage
• Seagoing experience as an officer, or a university degree and experience in the recruitment industry of not less than 2 years will be considered an advantage
• Good command of the English language and strong interpersonal skills
• Good controlling and communication skills

The Crewing Operator (Offshore) will be responsible for:

• Conducting crew changes for offshore vessels in compliance with the Seafarers’ Employment Agreement and as agreed with the Crewing Superintendent
• Verifying that all Seafarers are trained and qualified in full compliance with Company’s, STCW and Flag State requirements
• Informing the Crew Wages Department on any changes of the employment status, i.e. signing on and off of seafarers
• Informing relevant parties of any medical cases/accidents and follow up of these cases
• Arranging for Cash to Master
• Verifying and approving payment of Travelling Expenses, upon request
• Performing any other special tasks as these may be assigned
• Being adequately conversant with the Company’s Management System
• Implementing effectively the Company’s Management System
• Contributing to the development of new or the amendment of existing procedures
• Promoting and supporting efforts for continual improvement
